FH's aunt has been causing a stink since she found out that we are not having children at the wedding. Nobody else has a problem with this but her. So today, we saw FH's aunt and she says to him 'did your mother find a babysitter for the kids yet?'....FH tells me this and I was like WHAT!!?? What makes her assume that we are hiring a babysitter?? Her 2 kids are the only ones who need a sitter. Everyone else was able to find one!! I just thought it was so rude!

People are so damn rude! I can totally relate to you! We aren't having kids either and FH's brother is the only one causing a big stink and threatening to not come.

Re: People have a lot of nerve
It is RUDE! My mom got married three years ago and had NO kids. Everyone found a sitter and some didn't want to go without kids-that's OK as long as the most important people are there.

Re: People have a lot of nerve
It's unbelievable how rude people (family) can be when it comes to this topic. They act as if a wedding is a place for children to come and play...well it's not! I had the same problem...people complaining about the fact that we don't want kids other than the 2 in the bridal party...but my feeling is..you've known about the event for over a year!!! I don't want to hear you can't find a babysitter in that time. If you can't..then 'you'll be missed'. good luck!

Re: People have a lot of nerve
We just found out yesterday that we have someone upset about this in FH's family. FMIL was supposed to have spoken with her cousin's about this in the beginning and only spoke to one of them who was fine with her son not being invited. She assumed that one told the other one and now it's a big mess. The woman can't leave her kids home overnight (and they are in high school) so she's planning on leaving and driving back the hour and a half after the reception is over.
FMIL told us this yesterday at their pool club but FH wasn't listening (he was reading his book). I told him last night after we had dinner with FIL's and he turned the car around and drove over to their house to yell at FMIL since it was the only thing he had asked her to do and she lied about doing it. I waited in the car and supposedly FFIL went into another room (FH told him why he was upset before he confronted his mom).

Re: People have a lot of nerve
I know it, I am dealing with the worst BULL with kids at my wedding. I decided to invite a few of the older ones that i am really close with instead of all 20 of my cousins' kids. Now my Aunt is bou\ycotting my wedding becuase her bratty grandchildren were not invited! I am hurt but at this point in my life jsut really tired of being so judged by my old crabby aunts. So if she chooses not to be there than thats her coice to make. I am the last of the 'cousins' to get married and if they dont want to be there to celebrate, their loss.
It amazes me how people would not just prefer to get a sitter and have a night out -- esp for a late reception
I hear ya sister!

Re: People have a lot of nerve
well I intended on having a 'no children' wedding...well first cousins only and then it turned into second cousins and children in the family (thanks to FMIL) and then I get home and open an RSVP and a friend of my fathers who wasnt invited with children...took the liberty of including their child on the rsvp!!!!!! I am livid just talking about it...no phone call just added the kid to the rsvp!!! people just do whatever the heck they feel like!!!!

Re: People have a lot of nerve
unless your invitation or an insert states, babysitting will be provided... NO ONE should ever expect you to take on that reponsibility!.. that is absurd.. and 2 of my cousins weddings i was not invited to.. my parents or myself was insulted, i was a kid! even if i was invited (maybe i was) my parents wouldnt have brought me anyway! we are only having my niece and nephew, they are the ring bearer and flower girl...

It sounds like she was getting a little 'dig' in there while she could. Pathetic and it's not for you to worry about-enjoy your planning!

Re: People have a lot of nerve
set her straight, ASAP! we had a similar problem with DH's MIL and Aunt and it spun out of control. so save yourself future aggravation. some people don't understand unless they are confronted. flat out tell her 'there are no kids invited, there will be no baby sitter, period'

Re: People have a lot of nerve
its your wedding and i would not stress over other peoples issues. There will always be someone complaining about something. You can't please everyone so just try to please yourself!!!!!!!

Re: People have a lot of nerve
She has nerve, he should have said that we are not getting a sitter and left at that. There is no reason for anyone to assume that you are getting a sitter. I would be so mad.
