I am starting to compile a list of names for the wedding and deceiding if we want to have single friends invited with guests. At first we said no way unless they did not know a single soul there ,and they we said if it is only a handful of people we will invite them with a guest. Well, this one friend in particular asked me if I was going to invte her with a guest and when I tried to explain to her we have not decided what we are going to do and that a wedding is alot of money, she had the nerve to say.. and get this- why are u having a lavish wedding then! Excuse me , it is my and Fh wedding and we do not want strangers in our pictures, and not know who the guest is at our own wedding. It just annoys me to no end. Has anyone else had this happen to them?

Re: People have Nerve!
YES!!!! It is horrible.. thankfully we have had some spare space for people's guests, we left off some people that we didn't know in the first place! I dont mind.. I'd rather have the people that are close to us be comfortable there as well instead of inviting friends of parents that we don't know. I haven't had anyone ask if they could bring a guest yet, although I accidentally left off a friends daughter (she's 19, I thought she was a lot younger, like 15) and I felt SO BAD when I talked to them because I didn't know, so she is coming with them.

That is what we are doing too, inviting the people we want to and feel closests too, and their guests, then added others. I like to have my guests have a good time too.

Re: People have Nerve!
We invited with guest if they were in a relationship with someone. We didn't want some of his friends picking up some girl in a bar the night before and bringing her. Too much $ to do that and someone we know did that once and the girl was truly crazy and made a scene somewhere...very ugly scene. Too much to worry about. Most people understand!

Re: People have Nerve!
For our friends from work, if they were single, we didn't give the option of guest bc they all know each other, and we really couldn't afford the extra people.
One friend didn't send her response in, so I emailed her earlier this week. She says, 'Oh yeah, I'm coming, and I'm bringing a guest.'
I sent a response, really nice, saying that unfortunately we can only accommodate the guests we had planned for because we on an extremely strict budget (which is all true). She responded saying she understood, but I can't believe she thought she could invite whomever she wanted!

Same thing happened to me. I told someone that I planned to only invite guests for people in relationships because it is too expensive, and the girl said, 'maybe you should invite less people then but allow them to bring dates.'
I was irritated because it is not like I am close to this person.

A friend of mine had the same problem. One of her closest friends had similar feelings as your friend and she just couldnt understand why she was invited solo.
They ended up fighting about it for months. My friend who got married did say if she could do it all over again she would have just invited the singles with guests. It was not worth the fighting and agravation.

Its ok - one of my friends (a hostess at our wedding) is being allowed to bring a date and SHE ACTUALLY ASKED ME IF SHE COULD BRING HERE 7 YEAR OLD NEICE since I'm having FAMILY member children. I keep telling her no and she keeps telling me she will bring her
