PEOPLE MAGAZINE vs. US WEEKLY

I really love PEOPLE magazine and wanted to subscribe to it. I have heard that it is a lot of money a year--so I was thinking of getting US WEEKLY instead which is much cheaper-with similar stories---my question is - Does anyone have either of these subscriptions--and does US WEEKLY have just celebrity news or they have current events as well (like PEOPLE does) THANKS!

I like People more - much less gossip than US Weekly - more real 'news'.

It has been my experience that US is composed almost entirely of celebrity gossip. People definitely has the edge on current events.

PEOPLE and US Weekly really do not compare in my opinion. US is extremely gossipy and often prints rumors often with no basis. While PEOPLE does the celeb stuff too, it also offers alot of 'real' stories and current events whereas US offers none. US can be fun to read but I think it is more of a raggy tabloid than a good magazine. There is alot of good reporting and writing in PEOPLE, I think the writing in US is crap! I am in the magazine business and I am admittedly biased!

Thanks for your opinions ladies! I thought US WEEKLY was a little 'trash tabloidly (is that a word ' )

Does anyone know exactly how much PEOPLE is a year? The website confuses me with the free issues and the 'bill me later stuff'

I love US weekly!! I stopped my people subsription b/c it was the same stuff, I'm more interested in celeb news than 'real' news. Call me shallow...

I read both and its a waste of money cause it seems EVERY single story in people is in US weekly..

Also though with people subscription you get the cool EXTRA issues.

I subscribe to People - I have since 1994!! I love it.. It is expensive though, but I finally got smart and did the 3 year renewal instead of every year. Saves money in the long run.
