People who know the Holbrook/Farmingville area...

Alright, I'm having a hard time with this.

As some of you know. We're having our ceremony in October but doing our reception on a completely different day in a different state.

However, after the ceremony... I don't want to just send people on their way.

I need to find a space to rent out so that we can have dessert and drinks and just sort of chill for like an hour or so afterwards.

My church has a basement but they won't rent it out.
There's a fire department across the street with a hall but they will only rent it out to me 30 days beforehand and there's no guarantee that they won't be using it for something themselves.
There's a K of C and VFW nearby but they want to charge me $750 and $450 respectively JUST to have the room open for a few hours.

... this just seems ludacris.

Does ANYONE know ANY PLACE that I can rent out... for maybe 40 people that won't charge me an arm and a leg?

I am avoiding getting a private room at a restaurant if at all possible. I do not want to sit down to a meal. End of story. LOL.

I don't care what sort of place it is. I just want a room that I can bring a cake to and cut it and serve it and be on my way an hour later. We're chilling with our OOT guests at the hotel bar that evening.

(And yes the hotel has a room we can rent, but won't let us bring outside food in and again... the lowest price package they'd give me .... I might as well have it at a restaurant.)

It can be a dive bar for all I care.
Helllllllllllllp.

Alfies bar in Patchogue. Not at all far from holbrook. if you are going to do it, call and leave a message for Janet (the owner) tell her Kathleen, Alice's sister in law told you to call. my FSIL is a bartender there

Which firehouse did you already look into that you mentioned?

Did you try Holbrook (Terry Blvd)?
Holtsville?

I don't know if they all have the same booking rules.

this might be a little far-fetched, and I'm not sure how you feel about animals and plants, but the holtsville ecology site is really different and could fit that many people inside or even more outside.
The animals are all outside, while there are plants and a 'waterfall' inside.. its really pretty.

^ I've seen that set up with tables and chairs.. its nicer then it looks.
