People who suck

People who suck

I think it's funny how announcing your engagement to friends tells a great deal about what kind of friendship you have. haha...

Anybody have any stories?

I only really have encountered one sucky person so far. When we discussed my engagement she congratulated me really phonily and then proceeded to launch into a speech about why if she was the one getting engaged (she's in just as long a relationship as I am with a member of my FH's band but she's not yet engaged...her b/f is in the middle of college and a few years younger than her) she couldn't wait two years because she needs to have children soon b/c she's getting old.

She's 27.

I don't get it.

And apparently she also has had fights with her b/f about this.

And now she keeps obsessing over it like...she won't talk about anything but the wedding when my FH and I are around and we give her one word answers (like- 'Are you busy planning?' 'yup...' haha...) She's expressed to other people too that's she's upset about it (she actually told this to my closest friend of 15 years...dumb)...

It's like...what do people like that want? Should I take off my ring and say 'Take this, you're older, you're right, you should be engaged first. What was I thinking!?!'

I'm not normally petty about anything but this is kind of bothering me b/c on one hand it's pathetic that she could let this depress her and cause fights in her relationship...but on the other hand it's just plain rude that she would bring all that up with me when we're really not close.

OK just needed to vent.

I think it is pathetic too when people just think about themselves and some people are soooo hung up on age...like they have to be whatever before 30 or have whatever before 30!!

I think when you do get engaged and you need friends to step up and help plan and all that... you really get to see who the true friends are. We just had out E-party last night and one of FH friends (who they have known each other since 5th grade) left early to go to a Met game...now he knew about our party way before he got tickets and I am a Met fan and there is no way I would chose going to a game over a best friends e-party.

Consider yourself lucky that they show you all this crap because so many more friends will step up and show you who your true friends are.....

i do...

jordan proposed to me, and that night i wanted to ask the girls to be in my bridal party (i had been thinking about it for a while)....

so i asked this one girl, and she had NOTHING but horrendous things to say about it... like 'you havent been dating him long enough' 'he's not educated enough' 'he's got no future, what are you doing?' 'do you really want to support him?' 'he's a stupid online guy, go find someone real.'

Meanwhile..we were SUPPOSED to be best friends... so i was kind of appalled... and then when i told I was no longer having her in my bridal party, she completely stopped talking to me.

RIDICULOUS.

That's insane. That's even suckier than the girl I was talking about. Haha.

But I think it definitely shows who is a true friend...because a true friend would just feel genuine happiness for you and trust you to make your own decisions.

I am not sure if the girl from my story is expecting to be included in the bridal party but she is going to be profoundly disappointed if so.

I went out with some old college roommates the other day and one of them was like (with complete innocence and good intentions): 'If I were getting married picking the bridal party it would be easy. It would be you guys and my friend so-and-so from home...'

It was at that moment that my brain went 'Wait...I'm not going to be asking YOU though...' Ouch.

I didn't tell her that of course because I haven't even asked 3/4 of my bridal party to be in it yet...but I'm sure she'll be fine with it. But...what an awkward moment. haha.
