People who think they can budget your wedding better than you!
Why is it that when you mention how much something costs or how much you are paying for something, people have to say 'OMG! What are you NUTS? That's not worth it! You're wasting your money...I got the same thing and I just went local...blah blah blah. You don't need to spend that much money....blah blah blah' Why are OTHER people so concerned with what I'M SPENDING on my OWN friggin' wedding????!!!!!!!!!!!! It drives me NUTS! If I want to spend $500 on my hair and makeup and have a professional artist come to me on the day of my wedding instead of going to the local salon up the street, SO WHAT! I just had this huge discussion b/c I asked my MOH to come with me on a trial and she FREAKED OUT when I told her how much they charge! Not only that, but the cost of HER hair and HER makeup was included in that price...as a gift.,...but if she wants to get her hair done for $40 and pay out of her own pocket, so be it! I'm STILL DOING WHAT I WANT! sorry but I needed to vent.....

oh i knowwwwwwwwwwwwww i cant stand that!!!! my moms old friend did that to me last wknd...she called me for one thing and had me on the phone for an hour telling me how stupid my decisions are bc i'm spending all this money! drives me nutss!!

That's why I am not telling people what this wedding is costing me. Of course you have to tell your BM and MOH how much it's going to be for their hair and makeup but you don't have to tell everyone what you're spending otherwise. Try not to stress over it, I'm sure that's easier said than done Look at it this way, People can't say anything if they don't know! I'm not sure if I helped you but anytime you need to vent us Brides are here!!! . good luck!

Oh girl, I hear ya!! I tell everyone that Im paying a dollar for everything. Hair $1, Reception $1, Dress $1......they get the message. If not you can always roll up a newspaper and hit them on the snout for being so nosy!!!

My aunt did that to me last month.... She starts in with, My wedding was only this much? I said 'well, it's 30 years later now, believe it or not; and inflation, like sh*t, happens.' She didn't bring it up again after that.

yeah, the only reason i told her the price is b/c she asked me and I told her it included HER hair and makeup.....otherwise, I keep my mouth shut as far as what I am paying for things....b/c I know people's reactions...but it still floors me that people say things like that!

We had to stop telling my FIL's how much everything costs because they kept telling us that we were spending too much $$ and his sister's wedding (which was 10 years ago on Mother's Day) was so much less. Keep in mind they are only paying for the rehearsal dinner and haven't offered to help us pay fo anything else...

people love to tell you what you should do... one friend told me that my budget wedding would be more fun than her pricey wedding b/c i put more blood, sweat & tears into mine!!

I am so glad to hear other girls are having the same issues.. I got soo upset this weekend... I was really excited about this photographer and I could not wait to to tell my mom.. BIG MISTAKE!! when she heard the cost (which is a good deal I might add) she started ranting and raving about how I should not be spending money like that... (mind you it is MY MONEY)... and she actually suggested that instead of using a photographer that we just 'assign' someone in the family to take pictures!!! AAAAHHH...
whatever happened to 'excited and happy and supportive' moms??

We went through that at first too, especially over the photographer. FFIL wanted us to use a friend or his, who is a wedding photograoher, and his son, a videographer, for our wedding. It would only have been a couple of hundred dollars and I was open to using them, but then I saw their work. It was not good at all, and not what I was looking for. I wanted a mix of traditional and photojournalistic shots and this guys pictures were all posed, old-school Italian style. I wound up looking for my own photo/video which didn't please FFIL, but he did agree that I got a good deal for what we're getting.

this really doesn't bother me. i am disgusted with how much we are spending and am always looking for cheaper and better ways to do things. i welcome all suggestions...
