People you work with that aren't coming to the wedding...

People you work with that aren't coming to the wedding...

This may seem pretty stupid, but I just wanted to see if I am thinking about doing this correctly.

Someone I work with (whom I hardly talk to) sent an RSVP declinded, but will go to ceremony, and also gave us a check. I am going to send out a thank you card to her right away, but I also want to know do I go up to her and thank her for the gift??? Or do I just say 'I received your RSVP and thank you again'. She told me (Before she sent it out) that she wouldn't be able to come to the RH but she will attend the Ceremony.

So now, I know that she wasn't coming, and now I have a check from her. I just feel awkward going up to her and saying 'Oh, btw thank you for the gift'. and still send her the Thank You. I jus don't want it to be like overkill.

Is that what I should do? I just feel like I am doing something wrong.

Yes you should definitely thank her in person. As well as send a card. But because you work in teh same area to not acknowledge the gift from her is a little weird & may create even more awkward feelings. Its very nice that she cares enough to see the actual weddign which is teh most important oart & evennicerthat she sent you a gift.

There is nothing wrong with going up to her today and saying thank you and acknowledging the gift. If you are planning on sending out thank-you with a wedding photo, then you can wait to send the thank you until the photos come back. But I am sure she is wondering if you got it, so let her know it came and how appreciated it is.

I would thank her both ways (in person and a card)

I agree the gracious thing to do is thank her in person for the gift.

My boss did this to me. He actually called me into his office to give me the RSVP card. He told me not to open it until I got back to my office. I already knew he wasn't able to come. When I got back to my office there was a check in there. I emailed him to say thank you (because he immediately left the building but I knew the email would go to his PDA). And I told him I would wait to send out the professional thank you.

i don't think it would be overkill at all. i think its very thoughtful of you to thank her in person as well as send her a card

Just say you got her rsvp and you are happy she can make it to the ceremony and thank her for the gift. You don't have to say 'money' or 'check.' But it is nice to awknowledge it in person since you see her all the time.

She came into my office just before and I said 'thank you very much for the rsvp' lol :( That was all I could blurt out hah she is intimidating..she is a top principal attorney here, so I said thank you again, and hopefully that will coveri t until I can get a thank you card out haha

Both, in person and a thank you card.
