Per fh's suggestion
I am posting this on LI Weddings. he got it off a BMW chat room- pretty funny, what guys REALLY think!
Q: So why does the groom have to attend the wedding shower? Our 'wedding
shower' is this coming Sunday and I find it ridiculous that I have to be present
for it. Any of you been through this crap?
A: Because he is a pu$$y that will do anything she tells him to. He needs to
skip it - and go buy a motorcycle or a racecar so it can be automatically
grandfathered. It is ok to show up at the end to help haul away the loot.
A: My wife knew better as I made in very clear if my presence was to be
required at any wedding showers I'd get loaded and be a real PITA
A: I went at the end....of my Fiance's wedding shower. I suppose (from what
she says) it's to be polite to her guests, and to also help with the gifts
(carrying them and what-not). Proper ettequite also suggests that the groom
(you) bring a single flower for each girl in the bridal party, plus a rose for
the bride, and flowers for both mothers. I even brought one for each of the
grandmothers. Carnations for the girls and mothers, rose for your fiance. We
got some seriously good booty. The only thing we didn't get was a $400 set of
Henckels knives, and a KitchenAid mixer. So, short answer yes, go at the end.
About a half hour before it's scheduled to end should be good. Brownie points
is all your presence is good for.
A: I thought you were required to be at the bar
A: Tradition and etiquette says no guyz
A: I scheduled to play golf with a group of the husbands... Tee time was at
the same time of the shower... The shower wrapped up a good hour and a half
before we finished the back nine...![]()
It's all about planning...
A: You have been brainwashed
A: You do it for her cuz you,ove her. You made it thru all the wedding
plans, arrangements, invites etc...
if you haven't figured it out yet, these wedding rituals mean a whole lot
more to the bride than to the groom. YOu have to be a stand up guy and just go
along with all this stuff otherwise it will come back to haunt you. DO it all
for her, make her feel special, it's her day
A: Wedding shower is for chicks only. Stick with that story. I have never and
will never go to a wedding shower - I'd rather shoot myself in the head
