If you had one, did your guests love them? Was it too loud and overpowering?? i'm thinking of adding one and just need some opinions!! TIA!

We did and everyone LOVED it!!!! It really got the party going. It sounded great b/c we had mostly salsa, merengue, cumbia, etc playing.

We had a live percussionist and LOVED it! It was not overpowering at all and the DJ even called us up at one point and DH and I got to bang on the drums. All our guests were talking about how great he was!

I didn't use them so i'm not sure. But our DJ showed us some samples videos of percussionists that they use and they were all amazing so we just told him whoever is available is fine. I'd ask your DJ to show you some videos and you can choose that way.

I actually remember them showing us some videos and him saying he has quite a few and we could add it later....that seems like so long ago!! thanks for the input!

We had one and he was amazing. We actually booked our DJ b/c of the percussionist...we saw them play together at a wedding and loved the way it sounds. It brings a live element to the music that just isn't there. We also had a saxophone player but I didn't really notice him as much.

We used Long Island Sound DJs and they did a great job....ask for Howie who is the percussionist...he used to play at clubs in Manhattan and is REALLY good.
