Perillo Tours for Italy

Has anyone done it for their HM? Are they really the best tour group? It's hard finding a tour from them that is around 10 days and leaves on a Monday or Tuesday (so we have a few days after the wedding and don't have to leave right away). The one I found was $4000 per person Any suggestions? Thanks!

Are you totally set on doing a tour? I went to Italy with 6 of my girlfriends and we had a blast going to each city by train and discovering Italy on our own - tours can sometimes be very constricting! The public transportation is very easy to use. Also, if you're under 26 I believe, you can get a 'youth' Eurorail pass.

FM me if you have any questions!

DH and I did Italy for our HM this past June. Originally I was looking into a tour but then after really thinking about it we didn't want to be 'tied' to anything and come and go as we please. We did a tour years ago of Norway and it was get up early to get on a bus, see this - see that and rush again to the next stop. For our HM we traveled Southern to Northern Italy by car (very easy to do) and then took a train from Florence to Venice (16 days in all). We loved it because we got up when we wanted and then either went sight seeing or just walked around. Some of the days we were in Siena we just drove around wine country visiting the different towns, having picnics overlooking the vineyards. We would come back in the early evening and took a nap or went straight to dinner.

IMO I would definitely suggest doing it on your own. Italy was very easy to get around.

My FH and I are currently looking into Perillo Tours as well. We like the idea of the guided tour and its ability to give you time on your own as well. But I agree, its has seemed pricey. I don't know the actual cost because my wedding is a year away and the prices are not available for that time of year yet.

But if its anything like this year's it will be about $4600 per person for the 14 day Northern Italy Classic Tour.

Keep in mind.....this also include breakfast and dinner each day so that will cut down on your spending while there since it's already included.

When I went to Erope I did a tour with Contiki. I went after college and didn't want to be on a 'retirement' tour. Contiki caters to a younger crowd, I believe 18-31 or so. You may not stay in the nicest hotels, but you spend so little time in them it doesn't even matter. I know a handful of people who have used Contiki and they've been happy with it too. And it's MUCH more reasonable than $4000 a person. Check out this tour for Italy...

i did the 2 week italy perillo tour with my parents a few years ago. it was pricey but sooo worth it... they choose really nice hotels to stay in, and the food is unbelievable...they have a four course meal almost every night. i have also been to italy on my own for 5 weeks and i have to be honest it was so much harder doing it on my own than with the tour... you have to make all your travel arrangements and travelling with the train gets pretty tiring...

the cons to going with the tour is that they do make you wake up pretty early, but you dont have to go every day if you do not want to. the other con is that the crowd is not very honeymooney or romantic.... mostly older couples or families.

A tour isn't the best way to go for a HM.

It's a very scheduled, strict thing....not how you want to see Italy on a HM.

Your FM of your vacation sounded fabulous, but I was thinking... We don't have a lot of money and this is one of the few times that someone else will be paying for us to go on vacation. We want to do everything and see everything in the short time we have. We don't know the next time we'll have an opportunity like this.
