Permanantly straightening hair?

Permanantly straightening hair?

Rather than doing the newlywed chop, I wanted to let my hair grow out and straighten it. Anyone know a salon in Nassau that does a good job at a reasonable price? I called Maximus already and they're $$$$$ $$$$$

Lumara in Massapequa. I got mine before I cut off 10 inches and it was $115. I have thick frizzy hair and it is so much better. I didnt have to flat iron it after I got it done. Its on broadway. Not sure of number off hand.

I go to Hayato in NYC. I am not a city person, I go just for my hair - its about a 15-20 min walk from Penn station (or about $8 cab ride). They are THE BEST!! Their other location is in Japan, they know their hair! Straightening is the majority of their business because it is their specialty. Worth the trip. Costs me $250 as opposed to over $500 on the island.. at salons who learned the process just to keep up with demand.. I felt more comfortable getting it done by people who specialize in it.

Another thing I liked was that they have you come in for a 'consultation' first to make sure your hair is good for the process. If they think your hair can't take it or won't come out as nice as they'd like - they won't do it... which is much better than other salons who will take your money and do it regardless of how it will end up looking.

Do a search on here for Hayato... their are a lot of girls on here who go there You'll see great reviews

If you want a great deal, and a good job than I totally recommend going to Hair Village in queens. FM me if you want details!
Edited to add price....$180! It lasted until it grew out, and now that my hair is curly again it is exactly the way it was before!

Sorry for bumping a week-old thread, just came back to it and saw I was asked a question.. my hair was pretty curly.. here's a 'before' pic from the most most humid horrible hair day ever..

this is a 'before' pic on a non-humid day and I think my hair was still a little wet..

and thanks Cynthia! Yeah, I started straightening over 3 years ago and I LOVE it!! Can't even imagine dealing with all the flat irons anymore!

I go there too!!! They are amazing! I have been going there for a few years now. Just a note, last time I was there, which was in May...they said they would be raising their prices in July. I think they now start at $300, which is still not bad for Japanese hair straightening, they are amazing!!!!

I get mine straightened at Hayato as well. I've been going for about 4 years now and I love it!! My hair never frizzes in the humidity.

I went in July and it was $250 and they included a haircut.

will the place in manhattan or hair village do your hair if you have highlights and color?? thanks...

Re: Permanantly straightening hair?

You can't color your hair and do japanese straightening... it would be too damaging to your hair because of all of the chemicals.
