around $500 is the average rate I think. Wow, I never thought about how much that actually is for just 30 minutes!

we had Dh's sister do the majority of our ceremony..and had our Town Clerk come do what was necessary to make it all legal...she charged $75! (we originally just wanted Dh's sis to do the whole thing, but turned out her on-line ordinations wasn't accepted by our license office)..it worked out really well & got alot of compliments on the ceremony.

I don't think it's too much. After all, it's the most important part of the day and what bonds you and FH together.

thats what happens when you have a NY wedding... you end up paying more than double the price ... I'm always jealous of those gurls that live in other states and are getting like their whole package for like 10k

No, it's not a rip-off. I see SO many brides here who spend crazy money on limos, chair covers, and monogrammed lighting who balk at spending more than $200 on their actual wedding. It drives me crazy...there's nothing I remember more from other peoples' weddings than the actual ceremony. I've been to weddings where I can't believe how well it fit the couple and been touched. I've been to other weddings where the officient has said things that DON'T reflect the couple and actually contradict their intentions for life.
Having a ceremony that fits FH and me and our beliefs is not a rip off.

Mine was free because the Pastor is a family friend. But it would have been $250. You can get a judge to do it for a small amount or even free. You have to really investigate allof your options.

I used Hon. William Corbett, a retired judge, who charged $300.
