How much do you usually spend on a shower gift if you are in the wedding? Just curious. I know it shouldn't be about the money but what you can afford but I like to know if I'm spending too much or too little. TIA!

Re: Personal Question About Shower Gifts
It completely depends on my relationship with the bride, and my financial situation at the time in question.
When my sister got married in '04, I paid for the entire hall for shower (@ $1,200), (her other BM bought favors, all the decorations, the wishing well, made a towel cake, and anther basket of goodies, and bought her the luggage she registered for) and bought her 2 gifts (total @ $500). But, at that time my income was higher than it is now relative to my expenses, so I could afford it.

Re: Personal Question About Shower Gifts
I threw the shower when I was a MOH so I only spent about $50 on the gift.

Re: Personal Question About Shower Gifts
depends on whose wedding it is. Probably 100-200 - depending on how much I could afford at the time (like right now it would be closer to 100!)

Re: Personal Question About Shower Gifts
Having nothing to do with the girls IN the wedding party, I'm noticing the average shower gift for me is between $40-$50. (That is, that's what ppl have spent for my shower...two weeks away. yay.)

Re: Personal Question About Shower Gifts
Every time I have been in the wedding we gave a group gift as in addition to throwing the shower. Most of the time it has been about $400 in total.
