Oh lord, I was just gonna post something today about this, so it's funny you ask. I have pretty sensitive skin as well, but I still wax it. I do it myself and make sure I do it before I got to bed so I don't have to leave the house with a red lip!

I would say threading! My skin is also SUPER sensitive. When I got my eyebrows waxed they were red & bumpy for a WEEK!!!

What is threading?

Re: Personal question - can anyone recommend

from Rekha.org

Threading is a traditional Indian form of hair removal. The process involves a piece of strong thread held on various fingers and the thumb. Moving the string in an orderly and set manner over the hair causes the removal of hair on any area of the body including the face and leaves a smooth finish.

Threading is still the most popular method of shaping and trimming the eyebrows in India, the Far East including China and is now spreading to the Western World. Needless to say that It is practiced amongst the Asian Women in the very heart of Leicester today.
The treatment could prove a little painful but is the least expensive method of hair removal.

I get my eyebrows threaded and I love it. My skin would get so dry from waxing.

I am somewhat sensitive too - go to a spa, instead of a waxing place. The place I use has aveda products, which haven't caused me any problems

Believe it or not, I tweeze. Waxing and depilatory are way too harsh. But, I'd be real interested in where to go for threading in suffolk cty as well! Help ladies!

I thought about threading...I hear it REALLY hurts though. Waxing hurts too but it's a one shot deal...

I thread my upper lip & eyebrows. I go to Rita's Beauty Parlor on Main Street in Flushing, Queens. They do a really good job. The lady I use is named is Joti.

Sage,

There is a beauty parlor down the block from my office...I don't know the name but they are located on 51st Street b/w madison & 5th avenues. I believe they do threading.

Re: Personal question - can anyone recommend

Someone recommended the following to me but I haven't tried either yet: (for threading)

I got my eyeborws threaded twice so far but in Astoria. The first time it really hurt. My eyes were tearing and I was red for three hours after. The second time - really no reaction. Less pain and hardly any red - not much different than waxing.

5th Avenue Nail and Hair, 585 5th Ave, 2nd Floor (between 47th & 48th Streets),
(212) 355-1117/1118. My friend rcommended Stella.

Shamma had recommended:
Shapes Threading Salon
(6th Ave between 38/39)
1030 39th Street

DH's aunt uses this awesome wax...you don't need a strip to tear it off..it pulls up on its own...

she uses it on me, b/c I get bumps too...and with this...I'll be a little red...but not long...and it doesn't hurt as much as other wax...

if you wax...it also depends on the direction of the hairs...so go to a good waxer...

DH's aunt works at Milaje...in syosset

Re: Personal question - can anyone recommend

for those of you who've heard threading hurts .. it doesn't!! well im abornmally fearful of pain so it kinda does for me hehe. but not too much more than tweezing.

and waxing - i tried that once and cried my way out of the place and refused to ever do it again. so if i can get threaded, you can too =)
