Re: Personal trainer question
I have one right now at NYSC. I signed up for 20 sessions. It's 'ok', I mean he works u out really hard but I am so busy all week that the only time I actually go to the gym is when I meet w/ him. The good part is that without him, I would probably never go... .but... now that my wedding is about a month away I will be more motivated !!
If you are serious about going I think it's a good idea. Even with just going twice a week for about 2 months so far w/ the trainer, I got results!

Re: Personal trainer question
The gym I work at charges $50/1 hour, but if you buy in packages the price per session works out to be as low as $45 I think. The best thing a trainer can do for you is show you how hard you can really work and how hard you should be working.

I totally agree! Before I started with my trainer, I had NO IDEA how much I was capable of or what I could get my body to do. The best thing she did for me was show me what my limits are, and how close I can work to them and for how long, so I'm getting much better workouts in the same amount of time.
I see her once a week for an hour (of weights - I do cardio on my own, according to a plan she laid out for me), and I do the routine she set out for me, while she corrects my form, assesses if the weights I'm using have become too easy, and modifies the exercises for me as I progress. Then I go twice a week on my own and follow the routine as she's changed it for me. It's a little over $60 for the hour, and $38 for half-hour sessions at my gym.

Re: Personal trainer question
i signed up at the end of jan. with my trainer in prep for my july 12 wedding. i meet with him 3X a week for one hour. He trains both FH and I at the same time. Most gyms wouldn't do that because they felt it would not provide either of us with enough personal attention, but my trainer is constantly keeping us each busy in the sessions. it was a great thing to do together.
we paid 2700 for the (50) 1 hour sessions, and that also covers nutrition counseling which has been a major part of it.
they also have plans for about 700 a month that give you training 3x a week.
good luck! it was the best money I ever spent :)

Re: Personal trainer question
i have been going to a personal trainer since March. I love it. I have no muscle tone, and i am starting to get definitiion in my arms, stomache, back.
I dont go to a gym, i am very uncomfortable going to a gym, so i go to a private studio. Its one on one, and its all women.
I am very happy, one big thing i noticed, is i always had this very bad neck pain, from my old job, on the left side of my neck, it acted up whenever i would drive for a while, or do a repetitive motion. Since working out i guess my neck is stronger cause the pain is totally gone!!!!!!
