Hey girls...I really want to start doing personal training of some kind (I NEED to have some kind of accountability to go work out)... Do any of you have any reccomendations as to where to go, who to look at (who isnt too expensive, I cant afford $60 a session 3x's a week...) Does anyone use a trainer/Do you train (just a yes or no if you do train, dont want to get you in trouble with the powers that be!!)
Thanks girls!!

Re: Personal training??
I just started with a personal trainer. I go to Lucille Roberts which is ridiculously cheap - I pay $15 a month - and I bought a training package of 12 sessions for $370 with tax included. I love my trainer, it's hard work but I think it's really going to pay off! Good luck!

Re: Personal training??
I live in Queens, so I can't necessarily recommend anyone-BUT I do want to say that I've been working out with a trainer for a year, once a week ($30 half hour, $60 full hour), alternating between 30 minutes and 60 minutes.
It truly is the best money you can spend-I've been training since before getting engaged and I will continue after I'm married. I budget out money every month for training and forgo the little shopping sprees.
Definitely do it, it's the best way you can spend your money!

Re: Personal training??
Im just gonna give a different spin on this...I worked with 2 different trainers and saw results but it wasnt until I started working with a nutritionist specializing in fitness/bodybuilding that I saw/achieved my best results. 90% of the equation is diet so even working with a trainer I didnt see what I wanted to see!
Personally, i create my own workouts but looking online. There are a TON of resources out there and I use the nutrition info from my dr. Totally the best thing for me. I have never felt better in my life!

Re: Personal training??
I have to say....be cautious.
I tore my meniscus (knee) working with a trainer. It is a upscale gym in Manhattan and I am so wary of working with one now. Interview your gym about the certifications of their trainers (and different trainers may have different certifications) and then do your own research as to the validity of those certifications.
I was getting pretty good results but have acheived the same or better now by googling my own workouts and focusing on my diet.

I train at Crossfit, it is kind of like a boot camp, you have a trainer there at all times. FM me if you want more info. It is intense, it changed my body fat percentage in just a few months.

Re: Personal training??
I used to train with a trainer & even though i myself train people i again recently decided to start with my trainer again. I understand what you mean when you say it gives you an accountability. Even though i never have a prob working out & doing it. I just enjoy it & he makes me work harder. My trainer is expensive so im not going to suggest him atall. BUT i will suggest that you go & watch (without them knowing) several trainers actually train people. When i chose my trainer i did this because i wanted a certain type. No nonsense no bull shi tting all hour kinda guy. A tough trainer. PERIOD! Now also diet does have alot to do with it so its really important to keep that up. But usually (well at least my trainer) should know & want to see your food journal. See whats going wrong. etc. Also u dont need to train 3x a week u need to hot the gym at least 4x & train 1 or 2x a week. As long as you know u can stick to it on the other days.
