Personalized wedding clothes (for the married ladies)

Personalized wedding clothes (for the married ladies)

I am interesed to hear the opinions of those who are already married - and maybe this will be of interest to the brides to be.
I think the industry that makes all these customized bride clothes - hoodies, tanks, etc. are a rip off. I decided not to get any of them because I said to myself 'when will I ever wear any of this after the wedding?' I bought one tank top from VS that said 'just married' on it. I wore it on the plane ride for our HM, and now it is sitting on the bottom of a drawer - I will never wear it again. It wasn't really cheap either - I decided to splurge - and now that I think about it, it was a total waste of money. I would have been fine with a regular tank top on the plane.

So my question is to the ladies who did get these things before the wedding - are you happy you had them? Or do you look back on it now and say 'wow, I really wasted money on that!'

I had a hoodie, but I didn't get it off one of those websites. My mom bought one from Old Navy and had it embroidered (pretty cheap!). For what she paid for it, I'm glad I had it because it looked really cute in the pix!

My mom also gave us bride and groom shirts, but she made them! She bought iron on letters and cheapy shirts at AC Moore and probably made them for $10 each. (I just bought the stuff to make them for my cousin!) They were cute, we wore them after the wedding and on our honeymoon. Again, for what it cost, I'm glad we had them!

I also made shirts for the bridal party and myself for the bachelorette party. Again, bought cheapy shirts at Old Navy and the iron on rhinestone patterns for $2 each. Totally worth it!

Definetly see your point though about BUYING them from websites. They are so overpriced. But there are lot s of ways to make or have them made so much cheaper!!

i'm not a married lady, but i'm crashing i bought 2 tank tops, one that says 'just married' and one that says 'mrs kelly' - i bought them with the honeymoon, and only the honeymoon in mind. i KNOW it will be a total waste of money once the wedding is over, but i wanted to be that cute dork on my honeymoon

I agree that the websites rip you off.

However, there are really inexpensive ways of buying/making the 'Just Married' clothes. There is a vendor on e-bay who sells a hoodie, sweatpants and tank for under $50 (the knot has a hoodie only for $50 ). Also, like the above post, you can buy really cute iron-ons. My mom bought iron-ons and tanks from Old Navy and made 'Bridesmaid' tanks for all the girls, a 'Bride' tank for me and a 'Just Married' tank for the HM for less than $10 each!! I loved wearing my outfit to get ready and on the plane, and I plan to keep wearing it as pajamas. Why not??

I'm glad you posted this.
I am currently looking at a web site for customized wedding stuff!

I'm not really getting any 'bride' clothes, but I wanted to get my Dad something funny. LIke 'Father of the Bride.......send money! ' And he would definitely laugh and could wear it playing paddleball with his buddies.......but.........is it worth it?

Lol Lauren, I'm wearing my Bride hoodie as I type this!! DH tells me I'll always be his bride, so I'll always get to wear this stuff. I do admit tho that I don't wear the bride tanks as often as I used to, but I can still wear them around the house and not feel weird. Plus I wore them a lot before and didn't spend a lot so I certainly got my money's worth out of them.

I also made a Just Married tank that I wore on the plane!! I still wear that bc we're still newlyweds, you know I wore mine to the Cozymel's GTG!!!!!

ETS: I didn't buy my stuff from a website, I made them using the iron-ons from wrap with us. Except for one tank and a hat that I got at my shower.

Re: Personalized wedding clothes (for the married ladies)

I bought my infamous I *heart* VICTOR t-shirt and some JUST MARRIED flip flops...but ONLY because A-i can wear that shirt again...it's not a soon-to-be or bearing a date AND B- because they were on clearance and i had them shipped to my mom's in NC to avoid costly NY tax. Otherwise, I wouldn't have. I quickly saw what a waste it would be...time, energy and money for something I'll wear once and never again...I already bought a dress I'll never wear again...why go overboard? Like Lauren said, for what they usually charge, it's a rip off and I could get 'plain' items much cheaper that I can wear over and over.

I bought a 'bride' tank, but I knew before I bought it that it was going to be a waste of money!!

I bought a 'game over' shirt for DH. Nothing for myself.

He wore it a few times. It was only $9.99 so not a big deal.

I bought a white hoodie from Old Navy and did the iron on bride.

I also have a just married one, but need to get a shirt to put it on still.

All in all, it's worth it to me for the rest of the year. It's my year to feel special and besides - keeps me warm at work!

I don't have any of those but I did buy a tee that says 'My husband is a Hottie' - I figure if I don't get enough laughs or compliments I could use it as a gym tee shirt...

Re: Personalized wedding clothes (for the married ladies)

I got shirts made for my and my BP at Neighborhoodies, which is like my favorite place and I'll use any excuse to buy something from them. We all wore them at my bachelorette party, which made for some great pictures and I've worn it a bunch. Now it's mostly an around-the-house shirt (come to think of it, I'm not even sure where it is at this point), but I'm glad I got it, although I'm also glad that I didn't go overboard with lots of personalized clothing for myself. My bridesmaids got a kick out of their shirts, even if they only wore them the one night. And since I spent so much, I got a 'frequent shopper' type card stamped so that next time I spend $20 there I will get a free shirt

I got a tank top that said I heart Dan. I can wear it over and over. I wore it the morning of to get ready, the next morning, and on the plane on our honeymoon. I wore it last night cooking dinner too

i have a tank that says bride in rhinestones. i wore it a few times -- bach party, on the plane to HM and once while on the HM...I was actually sad because I wouldn't wear it again. Though I guess, it will now be pjs. But no, I'm not upset I bought it. It makes me happy!
