I always feel bad when people mention this because I know I am one of the offenders whether the person meant me specifically or not

I am an AWFUL speller. Always have been.
But if I'm going to be honest, I must admit that when it comes to the internet, I'm super lazy. I rarely use Caps and I never really bother with correct punctuation.

The to, too, two and their they're there issue is something I can't stand though.
if you can't spell, that's one thing, but you should know the difference in meaning.

k, I'm done now.

Don't feel bad kerri!! I'm a terrible speller too (I ususally just sound stuff out like a 3rd grader ) but for some reason grammar mistakes bug the crap out of me.

LoL
if it weren't for the little red lines under my words, i'd honestly have no clue that i spelled something wrong most of the time.
as far as grammar goes... yea... i think i missed that day in third grade.

it's so sad that i can read and write and even grade college level papers in German, but when it comes to English i'm one of 'those' people.

I blame my school district. I failed every single spelling test i ever took but still got straight A report cards all through school. that's messed up

You speak german?!?! That's awesome. I went through this phase after I saw 'Caberet' on broadway where I had an intense desire to know German. It never happened though.

I hear you about the red lines. I caught a spelling mistake on my invites at literally the last second....I spelt 'Forward' Foward......duh. I would have looked like the biggest d!ck.

The absolute worst mistake I've ever come cross is this:

Someone I worked with sent an apology letter to someone and said 'I'm sorry for the incontinence.' He should have used 'inconvenience', he really, truly thought the correct word was incontinence. I'm talking college graduate here. :shakes head:

Well....maybe he had a little 'accident'.

That's too funny.

The worst is 'I would of gone, but ... ' instead of the correct 'I would HAVE gone, but ... ' That drives me bananas. And 'supposobly' instead of 'supposedly.' My mom always says 'family orientated' instead of 'family oriented' and that also drives me nuts.

I was a journalism major in college and I edit everything I see. It's terrible. I edit road signs, restaurant menus, letters from friends. Not edit as in correct them - just edit in my mind.

no denise it wasnt you or anyone specific

OMG that KILLS me - IT IS WOULD HAVE!!!!! why does nobody seem to know this!!???!?!?

oh and 'prolly' instead of probably

Ok good because I seriously get annoyed with myself when I do that hahaha.

I have never seen someone write 'would of' instead of 'would've' that is interesting, now I am gonna look out for that.

Oh there is one word that I see most people spell wrong, it is rare I see someone spell it right but it is the word 'definitely'

denise, not would of instead of would've
the correct way is 'would HAVE'

These all annoy me, being an English teacher of High School students that refuse to abide by the rules of Standard English, since slang/computer lingo is easier!

To add my own thing to 'Pet Peeve' of the day though:

People who are fake to other people, since they are loners in this world and THRIVE on being fake. Pathetic!

It's a big pet peeve of mine too. I was a yearbook editor in HS and I just have an eye for that kind of stuff -- I found at least 1 typo in each of my 1L textbooks, and I found a typo on our tax exam....

internet abbreviations or obviously accidental typos don't really bug me too much when it's online in an informal setting, but 'your/you're' still makes me cringe.

When FH and I first started dating I was so impressed that he actually knew how to spell the word 'definitely' --- yes. I am a freak. My ex before him couldn't spell a damn thing and it drove me nuts

My pet peeve of the day is when people stand so close to you on line that they are breathing down the back of your neck. Then, every time you move up a bit to get away, there they are again stepping on your heels!

grammar mistakes drive me INSANE. Spelling-- sometimes-I'm not the greatest. But grammar really bothers me. I correct people all the time- it's kind of embarrassing.

Oh my god I feel the SAME exact way!!! I have a friend that always messes up to, and too, he knows two though! I always yell at him! I'm a stickler for spelling too, when I see things wrong it's kind of like fingernails on a blackboard! Now that I have vented I hope I spelt everything right!!!
