Petal cone help please!

I bought the middle-sized doiles to make petal cones. I notice that the paper is really thin. Does everyone else use this thin paper too, or is a thicker cardstock a better idea?

If I decide to use it, any ideas on how to firm it up a bit? TIA

hmm I was hoping you knew the consistency because it's a little hard to describe, it's not a very firm paper it's pretty flimsy and sheer. I didn't do petal cones but I think once you put it in the cone form it'll hold it's shape better?

I see what you mean, thanks! I just coned the doily and it's way too flimsy on its own. I'm thinking of getting some heavier paper and lining the doily...do you think that would be better????

You can try and line it with vellum, since it's so sheer it should go nicely with the doily

maybe try to double it up
