I'm sure I'm not the only one, but I'm scared to death to go shopping for a dress. I've never pictured my wedding until I got engaged, and I'm finally getting into the spirit of actually having a wedding, but I still can't get over this hump of not wanting to go dress shopping!
I don't know what would look good on me. I don't usually wear dresses. I don't really like any pictures that I've seen. I get frustrated looking at more pictures. I don't know where to go. I feel like if I DO find something, I'll change my mind about it every day. I don't want to spend a huge amount of money on a dress. I've lost 80 pounds over the last year, and I hope to drop another 20-30, so I feel like it's a waste to look anyway. I don't want to do this!!
Ugh, any tips on where to start???

Lololol. The same thing happened to me. I just keep going until I find something I like! Start at village bridal in babylon. They are excellent and will help you find what you love. They are so patient. Try on all different styles so you can rule out what you like and don't like. You can do this!

I too was so frustrated looking at pics. I never saw a wedding dress that was 'me'....I don't even like to wear shades of white! Go in with an open mind, let the ladies at the salon make suggestions, don't give yourself a timeline. You WILL find that dress that you love. Don't settle.
Try to enjoy it ...good luck!

Don't be scared!!! Honestly with my body type I always HATE dress shopping because for anything to look good on me I need to get it tailored so I was not looking forward to it either! But then I went dress shopping and the first couple I tried on I hated and then I tried on the ONE and it was like the dress chose me and it was such a great feeling! So stay positive!

Don't try to stick yourself into the stereotypical dresses you see. A friend of mine just got married and wore a gorgeous red evening gown, and it was perfect. Do what youre comfortable with not what youve been told you should do.

Nothing to be scared about. Yes, at times it could become overwhelming, but it all works out. I literally tried on every style I could find.

Thanks guys, I really appreciate all the support. I know I still have a lot of time, but it's still frightening! I'm definitely going to go to Village Bridal (thanks for the tip!) and hopefully they can help me figure it all out.

Just get into a mindset to try everything! I hate shopping and my first trip I asked the saleswoman to just pull one of everything.. my mom and I had a lot of laughs that trip!

Congrats on the weight loss! That is a huge achievement and you should find a dress that celebrates it.
I was dreading going shopping too. I am a plus size girl and felt like everything would make me look fatter.
I recommend going and trying on everything. Do not be afraid to try on color or to pick out a bridesmaid dress that you like (I know someone who is doing just that).

wow 80lbs...that's amazing. Good for you!! I was nervous too. I started at RK Bridal in the city. There are no appointments so you go in at your leisure. They are great!!

I'm definitely nervous! I rarely wear dresses, and still think I stumbled upon a decent engagement party dress by accident. I don't know what will look good, so trying on one of everything might genuinely be my only option.
