We have 2 cats and just got a golden retriever puppy. For those of you who are BTDT moms , was it overwhelming having a baby and the pets? Any problems with the pets adjusting? I am not pg yet but just thinking ahead...thanks!

It was a little overwhelming at first because the pets need as much attention as the baby, since they are basically children in spirit as well. They adjusted beautfiully to the baby. I never-ever worry about her w/them. My 'middle' child (she's 3) thinks the baby is hers and checks out everyone that goes over to her. One time she actually growled at the neighbor when she approached Amber. My husband brought the baby's blanket home from the hospital to get used to the smell. I heard Angel (middle child) slept with it all night. Never gave it up. The cat is only starting to discover her. He wasn't really interested in the beginnning. Now he brushes up against her little hand, etc. I'm still very careful and keep a watchful eye over them around the baby because what they consider playing might hurt the baby but they seem so cautious around her. They don't play/rough house and they quietly and carefully approach her. I've caught Angel checking up on her when she starts fussing and Sprinkles came and got me once out of the shower when she was really crying away. Hey, Mommy's gotta wash sometime!
