Petsmart ruined my puppy!

DH brought our puppy to Petsmart for her first grooming and she came back looking absolutely awful!! She is a poodle/schnauzer mix and DH told them NOT to cut her like a poodle...nothing against poodles, but we liked her the way she was! So what did they do?? Cut her like a poodle!! I am so upset and angry at what they did to our little girl!!! She looks just awful.

I have to say, I have still not found a good groomer, and I''ve had my dog for almost 12 years!!!

I also spoke to a groomer once and heard such horror stories, that I decided to buy a dog clipper and trim her myself! Naturally, she won''t win any shows, but who cares? At least I know I don''t hurt her, use dirty grooming tools, or keep her in a flea and disease infested kennel.

My dog has come back from the groomers with kennel cough, fleas, and skin infections. Each one from a different groomer!

Also, listen to your dog. I know one groomer wasn''t treating my dog right because when I brought her for her second grooming and handed her to the groomer, she peed on them! She NEVER does that! I didn''t think anything of it, and brought her again for a third time, and she peed on them again!! She also acted weird after the grooming. So I finally caught on and realized she was trying to tell me they were mistreating her in some way.

This is what I think of most groomers...

Thanks, in a weird way, that makes me feel a little better. I think we are going to invest in clippers and trim her ourselves from now on. Now I just need to wait for her hair to grow back in. Her whole face was shaved and she doesn''t even look like our puppy anymore. They told me it could take 4-6 weeks to grow back in!!

You have to be SO careful with groomers -

My family used to have a groomer who had a van come to our house. Well, they came one day and usually everything went fine, this time didnt. My dog was 16 yrs old at the time -she was in OK shape, just a little slow.

Well, the owner decides to let the new guy cut her without telling us- a 17 yr old guy. My dog for some reason did not like men. She came back into the house with her poor left back legging literally dragging across the floor! What happened was she was squirming and he grabbed her by the leg and pulled it out of the socket! He denied anything at first but after we had xrays taken, it showed the bone completely out of the socket. She had to wear a cast (hopped around on 3 legs poor thing) and after that, it was literally downhill....she lost control of her bladder, couldnt see, etc....the groomer wound up firing the guy and giving us the medical costs for the dog. We finally put her to sleep a few months later because she was in misery.

But the point of my story is that I will never again bring my pets somewhere that I dont get a recommendation to.

First, if anyone is in need of a groomer, my good friend''s sister owns a shop in the Huntington area. Arnold is a b*tch to groom, and she is wonderful with him. It''s a bit of a trip for us to bring him there, but she''s so worth it.
If anyone would like her contact info I''ll gladly give it out.

Second, FutureMrsTC, your story brought me to tears. I''m so sorry about what happened to your doggie.

after we put her to sleep, it comforted me to think she was finally at peace and no longer in pain.

Oh my, that is just awful. I was so sad to hear that.

FH just read the post and I was ticked for you.. he said 'if it were you there''d be blood' heh.. Im not THAT bad.. but I don''t think I would have paid for it.
