I prefer the drawstring. It's adjustable and I think it is more comfortabe.

I had a drawstring and it had to be redone a few times during the day, it didn't stay up too well.

I tried both the cinch waist and a hook-eye closure. The hook-eye was much much more comfortable. The cinch waist made me so sweaty and uncomfortable since it falls right under your breasts. I ended up going with a regular waist because I want some control for my gut - it's not as comfotable as the hook-eye closure but I'll deal with it!
