Petticoat/slip question

Petticoat/slip question

I'm thinking to save $$ I should order mine online, but how do you know what thickness/style to get? I never tried my dress on with one, I think I want the ballgown look, but how can I be sure that it will look right with my dress (as opposed to a full or extra full)?

I was thinking this too and just ended up ordering it from the bridal shop. I would have had no idea what style or fullness to order. They are experts in the bridal shop and I wanted to make sure I had the right slip for my exact dress.

But maybe your seamstress can tell you what to order, if you do order it online?

I think a lot of it is also personal preference. Most petticoats will work with ballgowns or a-lines unless you want it super-full and get a multiple hoop-skirt. There is a seller on ebay that has lots of petticoats for under $30 she also had good descriptions of the types she has and what gowns they would go with. You could probably email her a pic of your dress and she could rec. the petticoat you need!

How much was it to order it through the store? I need to have it when I start fittings, so if I don't buy one ahead of time I'll have to buy one there.

You should really try on some with your dress before you order one. You may want a bigger or smaller one than you initially think after trying one on with your dress.

YES but not for my wedding gown. My sister needed a petticoat for her winter semi this past December and we got hers from them. It was perfect under her a line gown

BUMP

Can anyone tell me roughly what these things cost in the bridal stores? I'd be getting mine at bridal reflections... The ebay seller doen't take returns, i think I'm too nervous to do that....

How much of a price difference is it??? Ebay is $20 plus shipping.

Right, but how much do they cost in the store? A general range... I'm just trying to see if it's only a $50 difference or like a $200 difference.... Any idea?

TIA!

No clue, I didnt wear one. But you can gauge what you want at your fitting and then order it on ebay.
