I got married 11/03 and one of my BMs got married 9/04. After we got married, this BM kept saying I had nothing left on my registry for her to get me so eventually I added more to it (after the wedding). I got her all these things from her registry for her wedding bc she wanted presents over $$ and even after her wedding she would say that she still needed to get me a wedding present. Well, lately, when we talk about weddings or whatever, she doesn't mention any of it. I've even subtley brought it up just to see if she forgot or somethinig but she never says anything. I'm not trying to be petty about her not giving me a present but it kind of annoys me that I spent all this $ on her presents and she's all about wedding etiquette and is considering being a wedding planner and doesn't even realize!
DH thinks she needs a less subtle hint but I am wondering if I should just let it go. I think if she realized that she didn't get us something, she'd be embarrassed that she forgot but I don't want to be the one to remind her.

Re: Petty question involving gifts....
It has been over a year. If she was really going to get you something, she would have. I would say something like ' you know what I could really use that we haven't gotten...blah, blah, blah'.
After all this time, I would let it go and not say anything.

let it go - it says alot about her character that she has not even mentioned it.

Re: Petty question involving gifts....
could it be that she sent you something and it never arrived?
MY boss actually used that BS excuse (that she bought the item, but Fortunoff never sent it to me)
She never did give me a gift, but hey, maybe in your case, it really did happen that the girl sent a gift and it never arrived.
maybe you should mention it. Tell her that you're going to close out your registry. You could say, 'I know you wanted me to add stuff so you could get me a gift, but I don't think it's proper for me to keep the registry up for so long after the wedding'
(you certainly don't have to close out your registry, but I think it could be a good word track for you to get the conversation moving.)

Actually, etiquette says that no one is ever required to give a gift. If a year has passed and she still has not given you anything, even after a few hints, I would let it go. I am not sure I would be so generous in the future, but I would not keep bringing it up. JMO.

Re: Petty question involving gifts....
It's just not in her character to not give a gift. She's all about giving presents- she gave me great stuff at my shower.
So that's why I think it slipped her mind or maybe I didn't get whatever she sent???
I feel awkward bringing it up now - about the registry- bc it has been 2-3 months since we last talked about that.
I guess I should just let it go.
Edited to say- we had 2 checks bounce from DH's aunts or cousins and we didn't to anything about that. Plus, one of our friends didn't bring anything either and we let that go. It just annoys me that this friend would bring up getting us a gift after the wedding all the time and still not do anything about it.

Re: Petty question involving gifts....
Same thing happened to me and I just let it go. I don't think it's worth it, especially if it's a good friend. They may take it the wrong way and think you're being petty (along with being embarrassed that they forgot a gift).
