I want to take FH to see it, but should I splurge on the play or take him to see the movie?
Which do you think would be better?

Re: phantom of the opera- movie or play?
I saw the movie last night and loved it, but I am a huge Phantom fan. I think you should take him to see the play before the movie. I don't know how much people who aren't fans of the show will appreciate the movie. Part of what I loved about it was how well they had the movie sets match the show.

Theatre is far better than the movies! (IMO)
I've seen the play three times...Not sure if I will see the movie...(definitely not in the theatre at least)

Re: phantom of the opera- movie or play?
where is the movie playing around here? is it only in the city? I want to see it this weekend! Edited--- nevermind, it says its at the raceway. Moviefone didn't list that theater, only fandango did.
maybe see the movie first so it's not a letdown. I've heard the movie is great, but of course it doesn't have the same exact effect as the play. And i think some songs are missing from the movie (is that correct?) I've been begging to see the play again. I've only seen it once, but know all the songs.

I'm the opposite. I have to see it in the theater. I love seeing big movies like that on the big screen.

No songs were missing from the movie that I noticed. I definitely think it's something you should see on the big screen. It has so many huge, spectacular scenes (like Masquerade) that would lose their effect on a TV.

ok, guess they're just not on the soundtrack. There are songs missing from the movie soundtrack (Notes, Magical lasso, to name a couple)

Notes was definitely in the movie - very comically done, actually. I'm surprised it's not on the soundtrack! I love that part.
