Philosophical QOTD: what say you to this?

Philosophical QOTD: what say you to this?

Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never ends.

I love that! Corinthians right?

When FH got deployed the second time, I made him a card that he wasn't supposed to open till he got on the plane or got to Iraq. On the inside of the card, I had that printed for him.

This quote also reminds me of The Notebook....

i gotta admit, i'm a pretty cynical person...but i love that quote. (i was gay like most brides and had it as one of the readings)

the cynical part of me says 'yeah right, until smoking hot billionaire comes along and sweeps ya off your feet)

while the romantic part hopes it is true.

I am a cynical person who refused to use that reading at my wedding

Love may never end, but since humans are the carriers of love - they can only endure, hope, believe and bear so much. At least, that's true for me.

Then again - in saying that it can carry so much, that's implying that it's sacred. That should make it endlessly strong.

I am the worst at answering these questions.

my thoughts are very similar.

but I had this read at my wedding.

b/c I believe it's true. I believe that 'LOVE' can carry these burdens...but I think the human mind/psyche can only do it up to a certain point.

for once, I'd like love to win.

sometimes, if you give it that last little bit of yourself...it proves the quote to be true.

I must agree with Lau Lau here.

Yes. For a love like that, you have give ALL of yourself which most are just not willing to do.

What say I?

I believe that as humans our spirit can be broken. I believe that far too many of us settle for 'good enough.' I believe I may be guilty of this myself.

I do believe that Love never ends. I also believe that Love in and of itself in this life will never be enough. I know it is not enough.

Maybe someday I will be able to let go and Love myself and my FH the way I know I can and should. The soul can only bear so much pain. Protection is vital. Survival of the fittest.

It is a beautiful saying and will be no where NEAR my wedding day. It's just too common for me. I do love it though.

It is absolutely true - humanity will never stop loving.

if i think of my mom when i read it - i truly believe it.

when i think of a romantic love, or marriage - i am cynical..

Great point.
I wonder why there is such a difference? That we expect perfection from our husbands, but allow fault and forgiveness for our familiy?
It's probably because we don't have to do our mom's laundry.

That could be a large part of it
JessicaM. Posted:

Re: Philosophical QOTD: what say you to this?

maybe it is because we 'choose' our romantic partners...and when we see their 'faults' we wish that we had chosen better?

the whole you can choose your friends but not your family thing?

and because you can't choose another mom, sister, or brother...but when looking at a partner, you can IMAGINE that someone else will maybe do their own laundry for a change...and wouldn't that be 'better'...

maybe if we looked at our parnters (and I mean long term...spouses) in that way, that we CANNOT 'unchoose' them, that we will focus on their strength, their beauty, the things we loved before we saw the things we didn't like as much...and maybe, if as the 'flawed' partner (b/c as they are 'flawed' so are we) we start looking at ourselves to see what we can do...

maybe then we'd stop looking elsewhere for better...and start DOING better, for this great thing we call love.

blah blah blah...the end.

I think reciprocal love bears all things. If you love someone, and they treat you like crap (whether it is a lover or a family member), love (and the human psyche) cannot bear that. If you love someone and they love you (really love you), then I think you can conquer the world together.
