Philosophy on buying 'new' gadgets . . . POLL

When a gadget comes out for the 'first' time by a certain company, are you more apt to buy it the second it comes out, or are you patient and wait for a newer model to be released that might possibly have the kinks worked out from the first release. For example, the first time a DVD/VCR was released, one might have bought it as soon as it came out while someone else might wait until later models were released that were 'improved.' What do you/would you do?

it depends on the item....for example....cars....brand new models will be bought up because it's new, but some models have good years and bad years....my parents have a 1996 Accord which was a not so good year...they've been having issues with the power windows.

Playstation2....there were certain serial numbers that had issues where it would begin to not play the game discs

That must be my DH's playstation, it broke last week. Boy was he really upset.

Personally, I usually wait on the latest electronic gadgets so that the price falls down.

i usually wait for a few months until the price falls...

I'm not really big on gadgets though...

okay, for example, FH (oscar) wants the camera phone from Nextel. I told him that by next year something new and improved will come out that is along the same lines through nextel and he'll want that one then. He thinks that he should get it now . . ..

Oh,I TOTALLY wait. When we were shopping for new cell phones, there was that slide phone and JT wanted it. It had JUST come on the market and I looked at it and thought to myself, those things are going to break so easily, so he got a regular flip phone. Wouldn't you know it, a few months later, I read an article on how all those slide phones were breaking. I always advocate the waiting...for electronics that is
