Phographers & Videographers- Use one vendor for both, or separate?!
I'm hearing conflicting stories (good and bad) about using one vendor to do both the photo and video. I thought it would be better to go with one, so I know I only have one place to yell at if things go awry! lol
Then I'm hearing that you may want to go with two different because this way you are guaranteed two different perspectives of your wedding. One company may be used to doing things only in a certain way.... etc.... I reallly dont know what to do....

I used separate vendors. I wasn't impressed by the photographer's video, so I went with someone else. Plus, I wanted to go with a company that does nothing but video.

I also have heard mixed reviews. I am not planning to use the same vendor for both.

The vendor we currently like does both video and photo and we like both of their styles and products. That is more important than what company they come from for me.

I happen to be doing two vendors for photo and video. I had a videographer in mind prior to booking photographer. Its good and worth the additional $$ I will be paying.

I think it depends. I think you should look at photo and video separately. We're going to choose the best video place and the best photo plae. Right now the best photos and the best vides were at the same place! Seriously, of all the videos I've seen the difference was minimal, but I wouldn't go with someone for video just b/c I liked their photos, it's 2 different things.
I don't really agree with the 2 erspectives thing. I think you ARE getting 2 perspectives. The photographer and the videograher are not the same person, they won't be in the same exact place getting the same things. Aside from when the videographer is videoing your photo shoots, they'll be doing different things, looking for different things. DOn't forget that what goes into a video is defintiely different than what goes into a photograph.
That having been said, I think Artisan had great photo AND video. Proline also was decent on both.

I'm also using two different vendors. It wasn't what I ultimately had planned, but I really loved Wild Rose Video's work. They were the first vendor after the hall that we booked. I feel comfortable in the fact that Patken (our photographer) and Wild Rose Video have worked together quite often in the past so they should be fine with each other.

I am using one vendor but my videographer is contracted out...You can have him do the video & not even get the photographer that I am using! I still have to bring you the video so you can see it!

im using one place... the reason for this is because i liked his video just as much as I liked another companys video... which were similar prices...so for the same price and the same quality i would rather have to only drive to one place to leave deposits. pick up proofs...etc...if i wasnt on a super tight budget I probably would have picked two separate places... like wild rose or something for video... but i just couldnt afford that

I'm using one vendor for both, but the video guy specializes in video - that's all he does. I was very impressed with his work and I did a lot of shopping.

We wanted the same people for photo and video for the following reasons: - less vendors to deal with (thus saving me time and money) - the photographer and video guy would have worked with eachother previously and complement eachother that day.
I considered three companies (not advertised here) and went with the friendliest, helpful and least expensive people. We are very happy with Duet.

We're using Patken for both. For me its just one less vendor to worry about and we really like their photo and video work.

We were lucky to love both of the work from 1 vendor. Price is also an issue and it's easier to get a break on a package. As long as you feel comfortable with your decision then that's all that matters.

we are using separate video and photography.
of course it helps that my video will be free (we just have to pay whomever is shooting) because FH is a videographer.
I believe (and I guess someone might say I'm biased) but you don't really get the same quality when you book both IMO.
It's usually a photographer offering video to complete a 'package' or vice versa.

I think that if you like the quality of work and the price of both the video and the photographer then you are fine. I went with a different companies because I wanted a different style video than what my photographer does. In addition,I was able to get everything I want for less with the other company and I LOVE their work.
The pros that I heard about using the same company is that the photographer and videographer works well together. However, I think that if they are professionals then they should get along. My videographer said that he likes to be at the brides house earlier than the photographer because he knows that once the photographer comes, it's his show. Different companies work together all the time and the work come out fine.
