Soooo.... I have sworn up and down that I must have a photo booth at our wedding.... It was the kind of thing for me that was just not an option....until last night. We went to a wedding at Jericho Terrace last night , ( beautiful wedding, gorgeous bride) BUT I couldn't help but notice that the people around my age group were OBSESSED with it, to the point that there were more people standing around the booth than the bars, and often the dance floor was empty because groups of friends were trying to all squeeze into the pictures. I wanted a photo booth because I like the idea of everyone taking pictures and having fun, I like that we get an album with all the pictures and was going to incorporate it into my favors somehow, BUT I don't want people spending the whole night trying to get a picture with every prop on the table.
Has anybody else seen this happen? Any ideas on how to avoid his and still have the booth?

Photo booth dilemma..
I went to a wedding with one and it wasn't an issue so I guess it's hit or miss. I'm having one and putting it in the corner at our venue where there's not a ton of room for a line to form. That way people can dance and just make their way over when is free.

I think it really depends on your crowd and the placement of the booth. I've been to a lot of weddings with photobooths and never seen it be a problem, but I have heard that they can be. I definitely think as long as you put it somewhere they can't really congregate, and if ht does become a proplem, I feel like thats part of the attendants job - just encourage everyone to keep partying and come back later so a crazy line doesn't form.

This is the exact reason why FH and I are NOT getting a photo booth for our wedding. They are fun and your guests will enjoy them, but I also want to enjoy dancing with my guests! You may want to look into open air photo booths. People can come and go a lot quicker.

I've been to weddings where it was a distraction and weddings where it wasn't. It's really hit or miss and it's part of the reason were not having one. Along with the fact that there's really no room for one in or outside our room.

We opted to not have a Photo Booth and our photographer is taking zap shots instead. So all of our vain guests can see their pictures on the tvs throughout the wedding dancing. lol. While I really LOVED Photo Booth at other weddings I have been at, I do know it took up much of my time off the dance floor.

I've worried about this too! But we ended up booking it anyway. They are fun, and at some point, guests are going to take a break from dancing anyway, so why not have another fun activity to do rather than sitting at the table taking pics on their phone or lining up at the bar? Also, like one of the other girls said, the photo booth attendant should be able to encourage people to dance & come back later, so there isn't an out of control line.

I agree with this!
I've been to a few weddings that have had a photo booth and it didn't seem to be a problem. I think the key is the put it in a good spot that will keep the flow of people going one from thing to the next (bar, dance floor, photobooth, etc). We got a photo booth through our DJ so I feel like it will be easy for them to communicate.

I think it really just depends on the crowd. I have never personally seen one be a problem but I can see how it could turn out to be. Just depends on how you think your friends and family will be.

I think it also depends on your band/DJ and the flow of your party. If everyone is having an awesome time dancing, they may quickly run to the photo booth, but they won't stay for multiple pics or keep coming back. We plan on having a photobooth, but we're waiting until closer to the wedding to get one at a groupon, since we don't want to pay a lot!

Thanks ladies, I agree with all of you, I'm sure it depends on the dj as well as the guests, however these days people in my age group seem so obsessed with getting pictures to post on FB and Instagram that I think it may actually be a bit of a problem. I'm going to have to get one and make sure they send a really strict attendant to kick people out and get them on the dance floor! lol

I've been to two weddings with one and both were not a distraction, but I can understand how they would be. I don't think we are having one, mainly for budget reasons.

This is exactly why we arent doing a photo booth, we went to a wedding and no one was dancing because they were all in the photo booth (or on line waiting) Originally we really wanted one but changed our mind. Put the extra $$ to an add on (or a few more nights on the honeymoon, thats what we did!)

I was thinking of doing that as well... I really want a food truck, and my head was definitely in the clouds about how much that actually costs! lol Also, I know it's not a photo booth, but we're going to have two photographers, videographer, and a zap photographer ( through our DJ)... so I'm thinking if people really want fun pictures of themselves they should just drink and have a good time! lol
