Photo-ops Western Nassau

Photo-ops Western Nassau

Does anyone know of any nice, scenic places in Western Nassau County to take wedding photos the day of? We are going to take photos at the church and the hall, but I was hoping somewhere scenic as well - maybe a nice park, lake, etc. I'm very open. Our RH isn't too scenic, and since we are getting married in the spring I would like to take advantage of the warm weather.

Also - we are getting married on a Friday afternoon - church is scheduled for 4:30, I was thinking FH and I might do these pictures before the ceremony - is that strange? I kind of wanted to see FH before mass anyway, to calm my nerves and take the edge off a bit. What do you think of that? I know people do it - it would really save time.

All advice is appreciated!! TIA

I know there's a gazebo in Garden City over by the train station.

I was thinking of that gazebo, but I'm not sure its anything special.

Traditionally I guess he shouldn't see me beforehand - I just feel like of everyone he is the one person I am going to want to see and be with that day!!

FH's cousin and her husband saw each other and took pics before the church too. It's becoming much more common now I think.

The gazebo is nice. We took pics there for my older sister's first wedding (like 17 years ago...I was 9 at the time......) and they were gorgeous.

I can't think of any other parks right now....well except Hendrickson, but I'm sure you don't want to do it there!!!!! Unless you want Central in the background

I know, , Hendrickson might be last-resort!! It is pretty though, but not exactly what I had in mind. FH just asked me about Old Westbury Gardens - but it seems ridic to drive out to OW, then back to VS for mass and then to NHP for the reception. Is there anywhere in Douglaston near the water?

Also, Laura, what time is your ceremony at HNM? We are at 4:30 and I am worried its too late . . .

My ceremony starts at 3pm and my CH starts at 7:30. It's a little bit further drive from VS to Syosset than it is from VS to NHP, but you should be ok on time. What time does your CH start?

CH starts at 7 - but I figure by the time we get out of the church, between 5:30 and 6, that doesn't leave too much time. I wonder if I should look into moving the ceremony up - I didn't know if they would be flexible. Also, FM me if you want or need info on their outside musicians policy - Mike just spoke with the music director today! XO
