i like digital b/c i honestly cant tell a difference b/w that and othe film and love the idea that I can have all my proofs on disk and can do whatever I want w/ them. Some ppl say the quality is not the same but I just dont see it.

Re: photo poll
I wasn't sure about digital. but when my photographer told me about all the positives, I think I prefer it. My photographer does amazing work, and digital pictures and printing has come a long way.

Re: photo poll
I think digital. The only thing I dont like about it is that instead of getting individual proofs, it comes on one or two sheets

Re: photo poll
When I asked about this, my photographer explained to me that there is a difference between ditigal cameras and digital processing.
A digital camera will obviously be processed digitally. But a film camera can also be processed digitally, which is what many photographers do now.
When you go to CVS to drop off your film, it is processed digitally. That is to say, no one is saoking your film in solution, processing it by hand, etc.
You can still get the 'grainer' looks of film when it is processed digitally, along with the convenience of digital features like all the proofs on a CD. HTH!

Re: photo poll
another benefit to digital pics is the photographer can see his shot right after he takes it - for large group pictures (like individual table shots if you do them_ he can easily see if someone closed their eyes or anything like that and can take it over again

Re: photo poll
black and white---film
color---digital
The digital pics are just as good as film, but the film holds a 'sharper' black and white contrast from my my friends in photography at school say

Re: photo poll
Our photographers use digital. One of the advantages that sold us it some of the samples they showed us of pics with wires or any other distractions in the background can be taken out. Plus...we get proofs and prints ASAP!

Re: photo poll
I am confused about this very issue. I thought I had considered all the pros and cons, but you girls gave me even more to think about. I had not thought about the fact that there is a benefit for the photographer to be able to see the shot onscreen right away. So much to think about.
We are having a very hard time finding a photographer that we like. Please send advice!!!!!

Re: photo poll
We are using both. Myphotographer works really well with digital. Because he is shooting digitally, we are having a really great coffee table/magazine book. Digital has come a long way in the past few years.

Re: photo poll
I think using both is a great idea. You girls brought up good points about being able to see a pic right after it is taken. I'm using film. I like the outcome better. I feel the pictures tend to come out better. I have always worked with film in my photo classes and just favor it. You tend to need more skill to get the film pic right then the digital. jmo

Re: photo poll
Personally, I like the real-ness of film and I do not think that digital comes out as nice as film. JMHO. I also feel that way about movies, too. I only really like movies that are on film and not video, etc. It's a personal preference. My other concern is, what happens when the technology used to shoot my wedding on digital is outdated, but I want to make more copies of my pictures?

Re: photo poll
I 'm a graphic artist. We are using (my photographer )because of her diverse photography background. She sat with us a really long time and discussed the pros and cons of both. What it comes down to is who you want to be with you on your wedding day and how good they are. Really good photographers do not need to remove things digitally from pictures . They shoot better. PS)She uses film but is using some digital too. Good luck!
