Photog appts tomorrow - What questions to ask

What questions should I ask at photog appts?

Re: Photog appts tomorrow - What questions to ask

If they shoot Digital or film
if film do you get the negatives?

If digital how will the proofs be delivered to you? How many proofs do you get?

How many hours of coverage? Start time end time

Ask to look at all their package options and
How much they charge if you want to add extra pics to you album

how many photographers will be at the wedding?

thing to consider:
What type of
style: traditional, photo journalistic, candid
and
album
do you guys want

I actually have a list of questions in Word. I can email to you or FM (is that possible?)... someone tell me how and I'll send it.

i dont know why anyone needs a list of questions to ask. are you really gonna sit there and ask him what type of camera and film he/she uses and when they reply are you really gonna know? and some of the other questions. i asked if they shot film or digital, the packages and i wanted to see full albums, front to back. not just the best shots. thats all you need.

I don't think it is necessary to be condescending. I ask questions because I don't know the answer. It was my understanding that this is one of the purposes for these boards. If you think my question is irrelevant or not interesting or whatever... just don't reply at all! Thank you.

How many photos will you take?
At home?
At Church?
At setting?
At hall?

How many proofs?
How many hours is your service?
How many photographers?/Assistants?
Are you the photographer?/Who are the photographers? - can we see their work?
How do you typically dress for a wedding?
Do you bring backup equipment?
Do you visit the ceremony/reception sites prior to the wedding?
Do you have liability insurance?

What percentage of your photographs are color and/or black & white?
Do you use sepia tone? Is there extra cost?
How many images per album?
Does the album cost outside the package or is it inclusive?
What is included in your packages?
Are parent albums available?
Photojournalistic style?
Portrait style?
Editorial style?
Do you use diffused lighting & soft focus?

Will you give us the proofs & negatives?
CD with file images for DIGITAL cameras
Do you offer a money-back guarantee?
Do you use proofs?
When will I get my proofs?
When will I get my album?
What packages do you offer?
What is the cost for a parent album?
How many wallet images will you give us? (not TY cards)
How many 8x10 images will you give us?
What type of albums do you provide?
What are the different photos available in a package?
Can we build our own package?
What is the cost for reprints?

I know there are a lot, but that's what we asked our photographers before we decided

...on top of it all you need to feel comfortable with a photographer - good connection/chemistry; all of the questions should be treated seriously - after all you are the interviewer here
Good luck!

No problem:
Album styles
traditional (matted)
magazine
if you ask your photographer they will show you

Styles
you can do a google search to see what type of phtographer style you like. Also they will show you examples.

Re: Photog appts tomorrow - What questions to ask

What might also be helpful to ask is typicall what minimum amount of photgraphs are you guranteed.

Another one is to determine if they work your wedding per hour or they cover the entire event. If they do it by event, where does the shooting begin - at bride's home or at ceremony site.

I know I had a list, but I cannot find it.

The list above is a very good one. It helps you when you're trying to compare photographers.

they may seem silly but if you go on the newlywed board you will see that you want to be as thorough as possible with these details ..many girls have had problems not getting all their proofs back, not getting all the shots they wanted, etc. etc.

Re: Photog appts tomorrow - What questions to ask

maybe that question, but what are the majority of your proofs, color or black and white? do you do sepia? thats all unnecessary. if i were a photographer and someone had a list of questions like that, i'd look at them like they had 10 heads. its just not necessary
