Someone FH knows who I guess does photography (haven;t been able to get straight answers if she has her pwn business or not) has offered to do our wedding for almost nothing but all I would get is an SD card with pics...I'm trying to convince FH that it's not worth the money saved because I am no professional editor..LOL..

Can you guys give me ideas of how much a basic photog package may be so I can try to plot out my plan of attack to get a professional. We don't want video and are older so parent albums and such aren't necessary.

BTW I'm dealing with a groomzilla!!!!!

You can work something out depending on your price points. MOST photog's are negotiable on pricing as well as packaging. I would agree with you in saying that while your friend will be taking all the pics for free, what are you doing with an SD after the wedding? Photog's take a lot of time to edit pics and display them in an album. It would be difficult and extremely time consuming to go through hundreds, possibly thousands of pics to choose what you want in your album. Perhaps you ahve a better eye, more creative, etc than me, but I would regret the decision after the fact.

We went with Ken Hild and designed a package that met our needs. Mine is a little higher but we are giving our parents their albums as part of their gift. Ours is $3600 which included the engagement shoot, our album, 3 parents albums (FH's are divorced), 2 photog's for the entire day, 5x7's for the entire bridal party, various sized portraits for us, and thank yous (there could be more but I can't rem). The most expensive part are the albums so your price would def be lower if you only chose to have your album.

Paying for $1000.00 for ours which includes all day coverage, Photographer + Assistant, Editing, 400+ pics (depending on how many we picked) and an engagement shoot. His name is Haris and his work is great!

My package is about $2,500. With that we are getting our digital album, 5x7's, 8x10's, 2 portfolio's for parents, 1 parent album, all our proofs, the disk of and a bunch of other pictures too I just can't remember what. It's the photographer and 1 assistant unlimeted amount of pics for the entire day. My photographer also customized the package to what we wanted. If you want more info let me know and I'll pull out my contract tonight and send you the particulars in FM.

HAHA! That sounds very nice but thats almost half of my entire wedding...LOL..I don't know how you guys do all this!! But I can see it going that high with the e-shoot and video!

My parents are generously covering the reception hall, so that's more than half of our budget. So we had some money to spend on photography and the extras.
