PHOTOGRAPHER - beautiful pics but 'i' didnt like...

Hey.. like my band posting... i hear lots of good recommendations.. but there is always something you wish you thought of, or was aware of before your wedding... did your photographer take too long, pushy, take lots of pics of same 'poses' or just one and settled with it, was their personality versatile to everyone in your wedding... got along with the maitre d', etc... my FSIL loves her pics, but did not like her photographer.. felt he was cocky, annoying, pushy, etc etc.... and i have seen A LOT of recommendations for them..but he got on her nerves.. was your photographer personable or too concerned with doing such a 'Great' job they were pushy or unpleasant.. please give the bad, even if you loved them so i know what to expect/try and iron out before our wedding.. i would like a fun photographer!

Please keep in mind I am planning from CA so useful info is much appreciated!

The best photographers are the ones that keep you on track and are not in your face. The best memories, besides the actual pics, of my experience were that she was unobtrusive. We sat down and went over my whole family and his, mapped out pics we wanted. We also decided against table pics because we wanted more candids. In the end, most of the fomals went in the album, but I have a proof book that I put everything in and I love that more. She's not a vendor on here and I don't see her name mentioned much but there are gerat vendors out there that are not LIW vendors too. It's Lady Kat Photography and I would recommend her again and again. She really captured the day perfectly.

Also, taking engagement pics allowed us to get to know her and she taught us how to pose for the wedding. It was a great experience.

We used Chuck Marcy from Chuck Marcy Photography . Chuck was so personable and easy going. He got along with everyone at my wedding and alot of guests commented on how wonderful he was and how you really did not know he was there.

And she's right in my price range...I wanted a lot of pictures, but did not want to commit to a certain number of albums and packages...that's why she's amazing! She also doesn't restrict her time...I needed a photographer that wouldn't charge OT if they went over 8 hours (3 hour delay btw church and reception.)

very true, her, J&J photography and Angelica Glass are on my top list but I think I'm leaning more towars Angelica.

my photographers were great. Only issues: some of the images have a weird color tone. Could be because of the room, though. My guests also commented that the colors looked funny in their pics.

But, there were also some taken outside that had a weird tone.

hmm...great personality, great price. Only issue: post wedding communication was slooooooooooooooow.

Not only were ours talented, they were great to deal with personality wise. We used 12th Night and both Dominic, who is the owner, and Mike, who was our photographer were great. Really nice and patient, never pushy or arrogant.

We had Dominic and Cynthia - and honestly I love both of their personalities to death - they are seriously the best.

We went to 4 photography companies before we made our choice. There was no question that the quality of work was superb from all four that we saw. None of them were out of our photography budget either.

What helped us to make the decision ultimately was the personality and temperament of the photographer. I have a tendency to be high strung and nervous (something I am working on ). If I have a photographer who is like me on my wedding day, high strung, I'd kill them. I need someone who keeps me calm and comfy without annoying me (or my guests) and getting in our faces. One of the photographers (and actually one of the band leaders) we saw stood up the entire time he was making his presentation as if he were selling us a new car. I felt as if he was rushing us.

The pictures are what will tell the story for years to come and if I look uncomfy in my pictures, for whatever the reason, those are not the memories I want to have.
