photographer (Duet) tipping questions

photographer (Duet) tipping questions

We have a $5000 (so I really don't want to give 10 - 15% for gratuities) package with Duet - 2 photographers and 1 videographer.

We have Team Sam. Does that mean that Sam is the main photographer and then he has an assistant?

Duet is not a house vendor for the Thatched Cottage, so we have to pay $60 for each of them to eat that night.

Can that be a factor when thinking about how much to give as tips?

How much should I give to each of the photographers and the 1 videographer? If Sam is the main photographer and he has an assistant, can I give Sam more than the assistant? And I guess I would give the video guy the same that I give Sam.

Any concrete numbers for tips would really be appreciated!!!!!!!!! (And let me know if I can tip less because I'm paying for them to eat! - and what you would give then too!)

TIA!

From what I heard it's around a $50-100 tip for the photographers. Maybe give the main photographer 100 and the assistant 50. I'm really interested in this too b/c I'm not sure either.

Also its really up to how happy you are the day of. I believe tips are a courtesy and should be appropriate for the job they do.

great question, I wonder this too. I was going to do 50$ per person. 2 photog and 2 video so 150$ total.

I am also using Duet. I have 2 photographers and 1 videographer, I am giving each of them a $100 tip.

Ill be honest ... I would question them about whether or not they want a meal. Some of our vendors said they would rather bring their own meal and not have us pay the expense. If thats the case I would then give them that $60 in addition to their tip. The meal shouldnt be included in their tip to be honest should they decide they want one. The reality is it needs to be reasonable work conditions so if it was I who was working a 10 hour day I would want a meal too! Just 'food for thought'.

I hadnt thought of exact numbers but I know we're tipping $50 or more just for epics so I imagine wedding would be more. Thats just us though!

I dont think this usually applies to photographers, I know for us DUET was there for 10 hours, they had no way to bring food, and it may be in your contract that you provide food for them, I think it was in mine.

We gave TJ $150, Tim, the second photographer $75 and the videographer I believe 75 as well
