Ok so my FH and I went to see three diff. photographers Patken, Sherwood Triart, and Silverfox...I was wondering if any of you girls have heard anything about these three or have good or bad experiences/recommendations. While I understand that picking a photographer is very subjective I'm just looking for personal experiences of others to help us make our decision. Any help you can give would be greatly appreciated.

I'm not using either of these 3, but have always liked the photos I've seen girls post from Patken.

Re: Photographer help
we booked with Silverfox. They have alot og good word on the boards. John the owner is sweet. We like that you can book for just the shooting and get the DVD negatives without ordering an album which several other places will not do - - they will 'give' you the negatives if you buy enough pics or sell for sliding scale (hmmph). Besides getting the negs, you can order an album later and your price is frozen based on when you signed the contract so we have 2006 prices. Also he gives you an option of a 2nd photog for 4 hrs (price in 2006 was 600 for that ) and that's all we reall need for the candids. While the wedding photog takes the formal shots early the 2nd will take the candids. At the reception the wedding photog also does photo syle and he will take candids then. Saves some money. Based on the albums we looked at his people are really good and unlike Patken you choose which you want to use based on the albums you looked at. Silverfox has meet & greets weekly to meet the photogs too. Now I just hope I can be as enthusuatic once we have the wedding and see the pics!!!
Because Patken says they assign you a photog based on what you tell them we were not thrilled with that place although alot of brides see to like them.HTH

Re: Photographer help
i booked with patken. i didn't get to check out sherwood or silverfox. but, i've heard good things about the other two. i went for my e-pic several months ago. wasn't crazy about how they turned out or my experience there. i was so nervous and the photographer who took our e-pics was not very helpful in soothing my anxiety. we didn't buy any of the pictures we took. we just picked out our complimentary e-pic and left. a month later, i called back to find out who our photographer would be. haven't met him yet. i'm kinda going on reputation right now. i'll have to make an appointment to check this guy's work out and make sure we're compatible. i guess if you're not comfortable with that, then don't pick patken.

Silver fox's work is really good actually! i am not sure about the experience with them though. my fiance was racing a GTI and the funniest thing.... they pulled over after a bit and started talking. the kid actually works at Silver Fox and my fiance told him how we are looking for a videographer!! lol. so we are going to check them out. i have a quote list... if you would like to check it out, FM me.

Re: Photographer help
My friend used Silverfox and she was very happy with them. I also have had friends use Patken and were very happy. My cousin use Sherwood Triart and her pictures were amazing.
Personally, I checked out Patken and Sherwood Triart. Sherwood's work is unbelievable. To me Sherwood was definitley the better of the two. Actually, IMO, Sherwood is better than most. I booked with someone else, but they were in my top 3.

Re: Photographer help
My brother and his wife used Sherwood Trait for their photographer and had nothing but great things to say about them. They were amazing the day of and very professional. The album and their pictures are beautiful! I would def. check them out. I was thinking about using them but ended up going with the house photographer for my RH.

Same with me. I checked out Patken, ADA, and Sherwood Triart. Sherwood's work is incredible.......they're reputation is impeccable, and they've won many awards for their work. They also did Pierce Brosnan's wedding in Ireland.

Re: Photographer help
Thanks so much....I really appreciate all the help...but since you've all said good things about the three I'm still confused. Do you think we should check out more photographers or should we pick one of the three. I just dont want to be more confused.

Re: Photographer help
I think you should maybe come up with a few things that are most important to you for your pictures such as the style of picture taking - - did you like any particular album more than others so that you might really want that particular photog?
We both wear glasses and alot of the ones we went to were iffy about touchups for glare saying we'd have to pay for that but not saying how much. Meanwhile they were also bragging about how they liked to edit the digital pics for the albums! Silverfox , John was one of the few who said no problem for those minor things but any heavy duty editing work would be xtra, which is very fair. He also has in-house graphics doing the albums so I think is you want a magazine style it might be easier to give your input for the design. So the type album and how they make it might be important to you too.
And what is your budget? from what I hear Triart is much more expensive than the other 2 but alot of girls rave on the quality. Is the difference that big, does it merit the xtra money? I did not go there so these are just questions I suggest you ask yourself, not my opinion on them.
Finally, we went to 7 photogs before we decided. John, Silverfox was the last and he met all our criteria that the others did not. So ask yourself what's important. Do any of the 3 meet those goals. If so you can probably pick the one that's closest cause they all get good reviews. If they are all lacking well then I think you have your answer to see a few more. HTH
