Photographer help!

Photographer help!

So, I was about to leave a deposit and book with a favorite photographer on here and then I won a photography package at TWOTY. I'm so torn because I looooooove the other photographer, but it would really help my budget to not have to lay out the money for photography. The wedding package doesn't include video or albums, so we'd still have to pay for that. I haven't met with the photographer yet, but he seems really nice. I'm so torn Any words of advice is appreciated! TIA!

I would set up an appointment and meet with the photog you won the package with. See what kind of vibe you get, see if you click and most importantly see if you LOVE their work :) Your pictures will be what you show the world and what you have to look back on in 20 years...You def want a photographer that does amazing work and that you work well with :) HTH!

Keep in mind your pictures are something that you will have FOREVER!! Do you really want to take that risk, simply because you got a free upgrade? Make an appt with the photog you love and tell them your dilemma, they will likely be willing to hook you up. We booked our photog the other night and he threw in some extras that made it all worth it. Let us know what you decide!

I'm editing my message because I realized you said 'photo package' so an entire package? I hear what you're saying about the budget.

So I would make an appointment with both and decide. The one you won a package with with will try to talk you into upgrades and extras, which could be worth laying out a little money. My word of advice is for your first appointment to be with the photog you love. If you go to the one you won the package with, they will likely make you book that night or the deal won't be any good. This is to prevent you from shopping around and showing other photogs what you're getting.

I know it's easier said than done, but try not to let $ be the deciding factor, you wouldn't want to hate the photos that you'll have forever! Good luck!!

I usually try to go for bargains, but for the end of the day, the pictures are all you end up with really and the memories of course!

Definitely meet with him to see if you like his work. Go through all his albums.

If in the end you want someone else for photos, see if you can work a deal with him to do video instead? Videos are much cheaper than photos usually so he might agree but hey one less thing to pay for!

Or see if you can get both him and the photographer you want to write in the contracts that 2 photogs are allowed and that they will stay out of each other's hair?

Maybe he can photograph your rehearsal and rehearsal dinner instead or another function like shower or engagement party?

Congrats! No need to stress his services are free! You're not losing anything and just think you'd have to pay for photos anyway if you didn't win.
