Hi ladies! So photography is next on my list to book and there seem to be lots of great vendors on here (Duet, 12th night, patken, etc).
** Specifically though, I'm looking for a 'fly on the wall' type of photographer... someone that is NOT pushy or in the face of my guests all the time. I'm not a huge fan of taking pictures or being the center of attention (go figure for a bride, right?!) so I want someone to capture everything while making me feel very comfortable during the whole process... As for style, I'm looking for traditional and also photojournalistic...
Any recommendations?? You ladies are great with suggestions but all im finding on here is 'Good pictures vs bad pictures', not specifics about photographers themselves. I live in Nassau so that would be preferrable but not a deal breaker. We aren't having a videographer so combo packages aren't going to help us here.

We booked Lana Rowe (lanarowephoto.com is the website, I think - otherwise google). She was the first vendor we booked after the RH. She is not overly intrusive, brings an assistant, her work is gorgeous, she is very popular with brides on theknot.com

I HIGHLY recommend Lovemorephoto.
I had the same requirements as you in looking for a photographer. I got married last weekend and they were my photographers. They were AMAZING!! They are the sweetest guys ever and everytime I asked them to take a picture of us with our guests they did. During the reception I didn't even know they were there. I have a few 'teasers' in my album if you want to take a look.
You should def give them a call or look at their website.

Check out Thomas Paul!!! Tom is great and his work is beautiful. The only thing is he is not traditional so if you're looking for very traditional he might not be for you.

We were looking for the exact same things you mentioned. Our photographer is Paul Marino and he did a fantastic job. He was not obtrusive at all, but captured our memories and the emotion of the day beautifully! There are a few teaser pics in my album.

I don't usually speak up about my photographer simply because people don't usually ask for what you're looking for, but we used Brian Calabrese and he was fantastic. So unobtrusive, but such a comfortable, nice guy. He combined photojournalism style 'fly on the wall' with making certain to get every appropriate shot so we had a wonderful array of photos documenting our special day! He did wonderful things at the Milleridge Cottage, too, and we had such fun taking pictures in the Milleridge Village beforehand too!
His price was way way less than some of the people we looked at, and he gave us all photos on DVDs (not watermarked) so I've already been able to go to the store and print large copies of my favorites without having to go through him! I ordered my TYs from Kodak.com and thought they came out lovely too!
Also, he made the album so quickly, we had it in hand about 6 weeks after the wedding, and it's FABULOUS!
We used Michael at North Island - just got our proofs and they're beautiful!! My guests raved that he was not intrusive at all.

I 2nd Thomas Paul. He was our photographer & I cant say enough good things about him. He's not traditional - but has an amazing eye!

thanks everyone! lots of different names to look at. ive checked out some of the websites and they all take some beautiful work. im going to see about booking some appointments this week!

I am booked with Duet and couldn't be happier. I just started a new job this week and found out my boss used them for her wedding 4 years ago and absolutely loved them. She brought in her album today and it was beautiful, she said she still looks at it all the time bc she loves the pics so much. Everyone else in the office also said how amazing they were, how they seemed to get every picture but never get in the way, which is exactly what I wanted. I know when we met with our photographer at the engagement shoot he was asking all about our families and how big/small they were and about pics that are special to us. He just seemed so excited for our wedding it made me even happier. I know when we went to book we knew the kind of album we wanted and about how many pics, so make sure that is explicitely included. Also how long with they be with you on your day. I had them include exact times so there would be no confusion day of as I have it in writing. They were so helpful and included so many other little things in our package!!!

I booked TimeXposureS. Jon is the owner and his studio is in his house. When my sister got married in 2004 she used Sherwood TriArt and is very much into photography. She had seen 2 albums that he did for her friends and wouldn't let me go to anyone else before meeting with Jon. He is such a great, down-to-earth, guy. Not pushy at all.
