Photographer meetings-any advice??
.
Search in your own words. Describe what you need or ask a wedding planning question.
.
Be upfront about your needs and wants and also your budget. If the studio is out of your price range, don't bother meeting with them. Most studios will negotiate your package, within reason.
Other than that, it's a bit early to say anything more. You need to investigate at least 4 studios and decide who's style you prefer.
You might try posting to the vendor board - there are several photographers that regularly answer questions for brides that are planning.
I don't know who you're meeting with, but I met with VIP, Imagine, and Patken. I think all three of them would do a good job. VIP is the least expensive and offers two photographers. Imagine was incredible, but you have to get videography with them too if you book with them. I'm going with Steve from Patken. Although the office people at Patken are rude at times, I loved Steve's work! It's sort of photojournalistic.
When looking at albums, be sure to ask them if they were the photographer who took the pictures. Sometimes they'll give you an album to look at and they didn't even take the picture! Also, try to go into the meeting with a small sense of what you want- parent albums, how many wallets, do you want a big picture for you and your fiance, engagement pictures, etc.
do you want b/ws? sepia prints? do you want a more formal or photojournalistic style...
how many photographers will you have? assistant?
If only one photographer does he use 2 1/4 film (you can change types of film very easily that way)
how many proofs? can you buy the negatives? do you parents want books? do you want to give your bridal party 5x7s? do you want an engagement picture?
hope this helps..
