Our Photographer wants 25% up front. 60% 30 days prior to the wedding. And 15% when we get the proofs.
Is this normal?
Should we keep some money till we get our albums?
Thanks

Re: Photographer payment question
that's normal, and most vendors want most of the money up front. It's usually non-refundable so make sure you absolutely have made up your mind to use them.
My DJ wanted 40% down, and the rest the night of the wedding.

Re: Photographer payment question
I paid 1/3 for a deposit, and i have to have a final payment of 200.00 at the end so i can pay off as i go right now

Re: Photographer payment question
Ours was deposit, big chuck at wedding and then $295 when we get proofs...so actually, all paid before we get final product (albums, etc)

Re: Photographer payment question
Aside from the depsit we left, we will pay them 1/2 before the wedding, 1/4 when we get our proofs and 1/4 when we get our album.
Good luck!

So should we keep back some payment till after we get our albums?

Re: Photographer payment question
Maybe you can negotiate the payment terms with them. If you explain to them that you are not comfortable paying in full before you receive the album maybe they will work something out with you.
Good luck!

Is any one else paying in full before you receiving your albums?

Re: Photographer payment question
Usually you pay the remainder when you get the albums. IMO I would want to make sure the albums were right prior to making the final payment.

Re: Photographer payment question
We are paying 2/3 a month b4 wedding and 1/3 when we pick up our proofs.

Re: Photographer payment question
unfortunately I don't think they will give you the option of 'holding back' any requested payment. They can simply not book your wedding. If you're not so sure about this photographer, why are you choosing him/her?
Most of the vendors have these stipulations because they can get burned later. Some people get divorced before they pick up their proofs! then, these photographers spend the whole day with you, take your pictures and the proofs never get picked up or paid for. In that sense they are covering themselves. (the vendors)

Re: Photographer payment question
We have to pay 1/3 at first, then another 1/3 a month before I believe and then then final 1/3 when we receive the proofs...
