Photographer Question

Photographer Question

Our photographer is contracted for 8 hours. Due to the fact that we will be taking all of our pictures before the ceremony, we are going to go over the 8 hours. The contract says that overtime is $250 per hour or in lieu of over time a gratuity may be given. So what would be an acceptable tip? We really don't want to give him an $800 tip (thats what the overtime would cost us)

Has this happened to anyone?? What did you do??????

Please help. I am getting married on Saturday and I have to have the money figured out by tomorrow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

from reading the tipping questions on the boards just now.. looks like anywhere between 200-300.00

Do you think that is acceptable considering that the overtime is 250 an hour and we are going to need him for 3 extra hours??

Re: Photographer Question

but dont you tip the photog anyway... do they maybe mean instead of giving that OT money to the photography company, to give it to the actual photographer instead???

i would really ask them about this... seems a bit confusing... who would give up $250/hour overtime for only a $200 tip???

Re: Photographer Question

Yes because your photographer is already charging you a lot for OT. Some girls on here paid 100 to photographer and 100 to video guy. Put it this way.. my photographer is not going to charge us for OT so for them to charge you that much for OT is more then enough. I think 200-300 is plenty!

ohh i thought she said she is paying then 250 for Ot.. and she wants to tip them on TOP of that!
sorry.. ok well what she said above me.. is right.. that doesn't make sense.. they wouldn't give up 250.00 for a 200 tip.. I would ask them as soon as you can!

Re: Photographer Question

i thought most photographers were booked from the beginning of your day (getting ready at home or wherever) until the end of your reception....that's how we booked ours.

Perhaps you don't need him during the entire reception? i've seen many photographers leave after the cake cutting, provided all family pics and must takes have been taken. him leaving early during the reception may get you out of this situation,

We can't give them $800 dollars for the 3 hours of overtime. We are already paying a lot for the photographer. I would love to give him 800 but thats just not in the budget.

What do you think would be a decent tip then?? What should we do?

I would send him home after the cake but I don't want him to miss anything that may happen.
