has anyone ever used patken. iheard their work was so so and when i called to schedule the receptionist was extremely nasty. should i still call to check them out?

I had the same problem with another photographer. Because of that, I canceled the appointment. I did check out patken because they are very contemporary. I loved their work, but they were out of my budget. There are plenty of photographers out there, so the choice is yours if you want to keep the appointment. Good luck, and keep us updated!!

I'm actually using Patken - but I wanted to tell you to go with your gut. FH called another place and they were so nasty and basically spoke down to him. We cancelled that appointment. I'm not going to sit here and tell you to go - yes I like them very much BUT you have to do what feels right! Good Luck!!!!!

I am on the fence about patken also. I have 3 friends who hired them. I was going to because they spoke so highly of them, however, when we went in to check 'em out, the lady who helped us seemed pushy, and like she wasn't listening to us. I loved their work however. I still don't know what I'm going to do.
**Just a piece of info, which I am considering also...someone I know said she loved her wedding pictures, but everything she wanted or needed from them seemed to be a struggle.*** Her words exactly. They are well-known though, and I never heard complaints about the quality of their pictures. You will make the right decision...don't worry.

I think there are plenty of photographers that can give you great pictures and good service. Go with your gut.

its true you have to go with your gut, maybe the receptionist was having a bad day. if you go to the appointment and like the photographer than the receptionist doesnt really matter. Maybe when you go you can mention your bad experience to the photographer. good luck.

When we were looking at photographers, we checked out Patken. Their work is beautiful, however, the woman we were dealing with had a bit of a chip on her shoulder and was rushing us out the door. That alone, turned me off to them.

I dont know what your budget it - but Christine at Spelman STudios was GREAT - she didnt rush us out the door and was really nice with us - she did my friends wedding as well and the pics are beautiful. click here for link

I did the same a s divabride. If I didn't like the person that I was speaking to on the phone (even if they were the sec'y) I cancelled the appt. I feel like that a sign of things to come!
