My search for a photographer is about to begin. What kind of questions I should be asking? Is there anything in particular I should be aware of? I don't even know where to start.

Go to www.theknot.com and then look under planning, they have a whole section on how to pick a photographer, what to ask, what pics to make sure they get etc. I tried to post a direct link but it wasn't working. Good luck.
