I know this subject has come up in the past so consider this a semi rant as well as need for suggestions.
I've been on the hunt for a photographer who has great referrals. I'm looking for someone who is above all, unobtrusive to the flow of the wedding. I've seen some horror situations of a photographer being completely in the way and that is NOT what i want at all. I'm looking for someone with a photojournalistic style who will be available for atleast 8 hours. Finally, cost is a concern as I'm only budgeting $3,000 or less for photography.
Does anyone have any good recommendations? I'm meeting with 3 photographers in NYC but I'd love to research more.

Re: Photographers
i used Proline studios - George was my photographer - those were some of my many requirements and i was absolutely thrilled the day of and after!! i loved George and they have been a pleasure to deal with from start to finish!!
my proofs are on the web - if you go to prolinestudios.com , click on the homepage, click on 'click here to view and purchase', and type in JameyMiller (no space) you can view my proofs to see if you are interested in George.
Even my guests commented on how fun he was and unobtrusive - we got the family shots done quickly before the cocktail hour and didn't take anyone away from the fun of the day!
feel free to FM me if you have any other questions!

Re: Photographers
My 2 contenders were 12th night and Right Angle Studios. Both will do a wonderful job and know how to do a great job on a 'smaller' budget.
I don't think you have a small budget so you should have no problem finding someone.
I really loved my photographer, Bill Minnick . He wasn't in the way at all and got a lot of great shots.

Call Ron at Studio Capobianco : www.anelegantday.com
He might be a BIT out of your price range but well worth the investment- he's amazing.

I'm using Proline too...
They gave me a great price and even threw in freebies; very willing to work in my budget!

Re: Photographers
I am using VVP... Tom Caruso. He did a wedding that I was in last summer and was excellent...very patient and went with the flow. He has a home studio on LI and I think a studio in the city.
And there's an Official 12th Night Thread on the 06 board.
