Oh my gosh, I'm feeling the EXACT same way. I have a list of like 25 photographers and I have no idea how I'm going to choose. And I did a search for all of them on here and you're right, some are positive and some are negative. I have a feeling it's going to come down to the photographer's personality and how well they mesh with FH and I. I swear this is going to be the hardest thing ever!!

08er here....I think a list of 25 photographers is way too much...You will never make a decision, your only going to drive yourself nuts. Try browsing photographers work online and see if they do the work your going for., some photographers are traditional, some very creative and artsty. Then take the top 3 and go visit them for pricing, if they are out of your price range., simply go back to your list or ask some girls on here about pricing

Thank you for the advice. I mean it's not really 25, that's an exaggeration but I know it is a long list and they all have the same style I want in general, I just have to look more closely. There are a few that gave me goosebumps when I looked at the websites so I'm hoping they will be a winner!

Re: Photographers....
I checked out F ine A rt Photography, Perceptions, and Verdi. I have two more appointments on Friday - Sherwood Triart & Duet. It is so hard to make a decision - I go to one and I love thier album, then I go to another and I don't love their album but Iove their style. URGG I was just talking about this with my sis-in-law. She gave me the advice to not go to too many b/c that makes it even more difficult to choose. So far I've really liked all of the places we visited. I wanted to make only two more appointments with Angelica Glass & Velvet Studios and then make a final decision. However, Angelica Glass only books 12-14 months before and I am not willing to wait that long to secure the most important part of our wedding day. So, Velvet Studios will be the last...I hope ! How did you like Velvet Jayla??

alot of them wont bc theres a bunch of different packages so until you decide exactly what you want they cant really give a price.
Ask around here the price range for photographers, thats your best bet

yeah especially since some of them dont book far in advance. Its not bad waiting for someone you are really interested in, i mean you know they have the date open right...I was actually SOOOO happy that angelica glass doesnt book more than a year in advance, everyone was saying it like it was a bad thing , meanwhile i was like NOOOO it means my date is definitely open so its perfect...if she didnt do that then im sure my date wouldnt have been available and waiting to book her was the best decision, didnt regret it at all.

I want to have that philosophy too but some of these photographers are so expensive to begin with and by the time I want to book, I can only imagine what the prices will be since they are only going to go up. So what do I do...wait it out and book when it's closer to me date when it seems more reasonable and risk paying my first born child....or book now and lock in cheaper prices. There is always that factor of regret too if I book now. AAARRGGHHH!!! To heck with it, I'm using disposable cameras!

07er crashing. Look into Thomas Paul Photography. He's becoming more known on the boards now so if you do a search you'll see some samples of his work and what some of the other brides have said about him.
Others you may want to consider: ADA Angelica Glass Patken Duet
Good luck!

I agree, I just want to have my photographer booked by the end of the summer so I can make sure I get who I want. Thats one of the perks of having two years to plan a wedding....you get what you want
I might just go the disposable camera route too But I think I narrowed it down to 6 photographers I want to see...and I am hoping to have it down to 3 soon!!

Re: Photographers....
im pretty new on here and i just posted a thread asking for people for photography/video recommendations and asked for people to post price..some people FMed me the prices and what their packages included..but it was great...i found out which photographers were out right away bc they were too much (photos and video are very important to me as well- but i not rich! lol) i was able to figure out that i wanted a place that gave a cd of pics, and engagement pics included (i knew there was no way fh would want to pay exrta for this or would even want to go unless it was included) and i wanted the cd cause i figured i can save a bit of money and not get parent albums bc i can just make them myself for a lot cheaper...i ended up looking at 3 photographers/videographers (i had an appointment for 6 but made a decision before seeing the 3 others) i booked with velvet...i got an album with 90 pics (and mini album), 1 11x14, 2- 8x10, 2 photogrpahers, all pics on a cd, a videographer, 3 edited dvd's and raw footage for 4200..i thought it was a great price and i loved the photos and video they showed me

Re: Photographers....
08er...I found to cut some ways to cut some costs of the photo/video budget.
1) I decided to hire a seperate videographer..I found it to be cheaper. However, the company I booked is the same price as others but so original. i feel as if I'm getting more for my money and I LOVE their style (Motion Pictures Inc). Link It's more of a documentary style with voice overs..it's great! Plus you get all of the raw footage
2) Making a my own albums. I love to scrapbook. I decided to make the parent albums and my album in the form of a scrapbook. This dropped the price thousands of $.
3) We are using only one photographer instead of the normal 2. I want pictures to remember the day but don't need thousands of them.
4) Buy photoshop! You can create all of the unique pictures on there...black/white, specific items in color etc. Now that proofs are all on DVD you can do it yourself.
This stuff will only be beneficial if you want to put the time in. HTH

i also saw duet and patken...they were also great and had beautiful pics..i chose velvet over them for stupid reasons nothing to big haha ~all of there prices were comparable, patken did engagement pics in the studio (i wanted to go somewhere), and although this didnt really bother me, you dont get to choose your photographer and u might not really work with them or meet them till the day of your wedding...duet was pretty much the same prices as velvet and offered the same but velvet told me that if i pay in cash that he wont choarge tax, duet charges tax, and i liked the sample video i saw in velvet a little more then the duet one...but these are just my opinions...i thought all 3 had great prices and beautiful pics and video haha
i was also going to see 12th night and perceptions but i ended up cancelling cause i really wanted to book velvet (im one of those crazy people that thinks that if i wait an extra week someone else might book before me lol)
