Photographers on Overtime
If say I tell my photographer to be I want him/her to arrive at my house at 3:00 pm to begin taking pictures and I want him till the end of the reception which is 12:30, we are looking at 9 1/2 hours of photography. What is the average cut off time frame that a photographer begins charging overtime. And have you found that they waive the overtime charge.
Thanks again

Re: Photographers on Overtime
My photographer is arriving at my house at 12:30 p.m. and he said that after the dance with our parents he would leave but if for some reason we wanted him to stay he would. I think that he would waive the overtime charge for us.

Re: Photographers on Overtime
we had the photographer from 12noon to around 11pm - not sure exactly what time it was when he left. But it wasn't an hourly thing - you get the photographer for the day. However long that may be. We had no overtime charges. The exception to that is I think they usually leave after the cake cutting (ours did), so you may have to pay more to have them stay till the end. Our videographer stayed till the end and got a great shot of me untying my husband's bow tie at the end of the last dance.

Re: Photographers on Overtime
My photographer stays until the end of the reception at 11pm and will arrive at 1:30 for pictures before the church at my parent's house. No overtime...get it clear in your contract before you sign anything.

Re: Photographers on Overtime
Same thing for me...I have 'all day' coverage which means all day (from the beginning of my day to the end). Some photographers have 8 hour days. Get it in the contract.

Re: Photographers on Overtime
Thanks for the tip ddunne23. You are having your photographer for about the same amt of time I think I would need mine. I hope I don't need him longer than that, where they might say that is considered overtime.

Re: Photographers on Overtime
My photographer isn't charging us overtime and that is in our contract. However, we did meet with photographers who told us that they charge overtime after a certain number of hours.

Re: Photographers on Overtime
So on the contract should it say 'all day' affair or specifically saying what times I would like the photographer to be with us?

Re: Photographers on Overtime
I would say yes. One thing I learned (too late for somke vendors) is to read that darn contract with a magnifying glass. Our photographer has two great things on his contract:1. He has down that he is there as long as we want him there.
2. There is no limit to the amount of pictures taken, he made sure to specify 'unlimited' please make sure you pay attention to how many pictures you have taken. If you go to a photographer that is going to charge you overtime they might charge you more money if you go over the alloted number of pictures you agreed upon for the day.
