Photographers Where do I start?

OK, I'm meeting with the first of many I'm sure, tonight! I don’t know where to start.
What are some good basic questions to ask them.
How many pics in an album are normal?
How many pics do they actually take normally?

TIA ladies!!!

ask about how many hours you will have the photographer, make sure that in case of an emergenecy and the photographer cant make it that day..who will take your pictures! Ask about fees to touch up pics, changing color pics to black and white,( if you wanted to), etc. Good luck and have fun!!!! ask about extras, for gifts to bridal party, parents, etc. For example, Patken offers pics at 50% off if you order them winthin two weeks of picking up prints, it saved us a BUNDLE because my whole family wanted extras..so ask about that too, ways to save money! How long until you can keep the negatives..thats all I can think of for now!

Most important, you want to walk in knowing what types of photos you're looking for. Do you want traditional posed photos? Do you want more photojournalistic/documentary style photos? A mix of both? Do they charge extra for any special effects photos (ie: black and white, sepia, color treated)? Also, have some sort of realistic budget. Don't let yourself fall in love with something you know you can't afford.

Divabride has a great list you can print out!

Also, check on theknot.com, they have a list of questions that are very helpful as well!

i agree...

when shopping around at studios, make sure you see a whole album of the photographer who will be shooting your day. ask them how many photos were taken for the entire event (so you see the good shot to overall taken ratio). what i did was saw a range of packages and price ranges before i figured out what i wanted. once i got an idea of what was available, i set my budget to what i felt was reasonable. i really analyzed photographs for the 'mood' and style, and i asked myself what i liked and didn't like about them. i then selected the photographer who i clicked with and who's work i liked best...
