photography

hello.... so I got my first quote for a photographer. I'm not sure what to think. I am on a limited budget, and I was kinda hoping to not spend too much on vendors. I was quoted on the lowest package which is 10 hrs, 8 by 10 book, 75 thank yous, complimentary e pics. DVD montage, umm not sure if that was it, oh and like 1 -8 by 10 and a five by seven etc. Anyway, the price came to 3000. Is that normal or good?

Re: photography

I am probably not much help considering that I have only met with one photographer this far and got a base quote for $7,500! I knew that this photographer was high end when I made the appointment, but I do think that $3,000 is a good and reasonable quote...I feel like that is the average cost for most. (but then again what do i know lol!!)

go meet with thomas paul, patken and duet if you are on a budget...compare compare compare...

i know i saw packages from high end photographers with like nothing for 4000 all the way up to 8000 and i got a way better deal that included everything.

i'm glad i shopped around for the style i liked plus the biggest bang for my buck.

i think your price depends on who your photographer is.

ETA: just for clarification

I second this... and also remember that the full amount usually isn't due until you pick up your proofs... about a month or so after the wedding...

Thanks girls, I'm getting anxiety thinking about how much everything is... I mean I don't want to go cheap and then not be happy with the final outcome, but I didn't realize that for basic packages they are so much!

The package I picked didn't include parent albums. I didn't think I wanted parent albums, but I did want the folios or 'brag books' she added them in for 100 more. So it makes my total package 3100. uhhhhh it is all a crime!!!! haha

That is pretty normal. You can probably can get them to throw in something else if you really want. I think of it this way....pics are VERY IMPORTANT!! You probably don't wanna skimp on them.

That's not that great. Ours was about $5000 and that included a photo booth.

Re: photography

Sounds pretty typical. If you want parent albums, just make them on shutterfly for much cheaper. Do your parents really need a super expensive made to last forever album?? Just make sure your package includes the rights to the photos and the full digital images unwatermarked.

3,000 is average. Duet starts at 2,395. You can either do 2 photographers and no album or 1 photog and albums. They were nice, I met with them the other day. I may be booking with them. I am ona budget too. They seem to give you a lot for your money compared to others I've seen. Good LucK!
