Photography - Choosing A Vendor

Photography - Choosing A Vendor

I can not choose a photographer.. I must have looked at a dozen or so portfolios.... No insult intended, but all the pictures look the same...

How did you all pick (if you did) your photographer.. I want something pretty and elegant, but they all seem to be the same pictures over and over.

I just loved his pictures and I couldnt see anyone else shooting my wedding. When you find the right one, you'll know.

The first thing I did was email the vendors I was interested in. Those who did not respond were immediately crossed off my list. I checked their websites and galleries and checked the BHB's review. Only spoke on the phone w/ one photographer and set up appt. Waiting for contract to come in now.

We wanted someone that could do candid, photojournalistic and of course traditional. I saw Kim Hurst mentioned in VintageGirl's review and check her out as well as the other photographer she used at her wedding. Also put a post on here on what I was looking for and people gave their recommendations. We are on a tight budget but we wanted something that would wow us. Kim did that. Her prices were amazing compared to the others I spoke with and her portfolio was exactly what we were looking for. I can't explain it.....her pics have this depth and intimacy to them. It's amazing. Guess it was like the RH....got that wow factor and I wouldn't settle for anything else.

A lot of photographers take your traditional standard shots and have them displayed on the site but if you meet with them you can let them know what kind of style you like or want and they can let you know if they have photographers that suit your style. We told our photog we don’t want the same ol posed boring shots…we gave them examples and they told us that at our engagement shoot they are gonna ask us a lot of questions and play around with pics that we would like or dislike and get to know our personalities. From what they learn and see there they would match us to a photographer who suits our style. So I would find the ones you think you like best and meet with them and see what kind of vibe you get form them and how much they are willing to work with you to give you what you want

We wanted someone really creative and Thomas Paul just blew us away. His work is just amazing. Plus, we are getting two photographers and the price was great as well. Even though he is not on our job the day of (and I can't be mad b/c he's shooting Teri's wedding! ) We had to book him. Definitely check him out.

We went with DAN WAGNER because we loved his work. I visit his blog once a week so I can see what he's up to. He also has a studio in NYC for advertising and magazine work.

we went to Duet and FH and I fell in love with the albums and one photographer in particulars work, so we went with his team. Of all the people we called, they gave us the best deal for photo and video

We saw Sherwood Triat tonight and FH and I really liked them... but I know they're $$$$ so we're going to look around.
